Brisk temperatures, hilly terrain greet Toon in Lampang

By The Nation

North-Central Lampang province’s hilly roads posed a challenge for Artiwara “Toon” Kongmalai and his fellow charity runners on Tuesday, Day 49 of his fund-raising campaign for public hospitals, but the morning temperature was a bracing 13 degrees Celsius.

The hilly terrain prompted the team to split the day’s run into five laps instead of the usual four, allowing more time to rest.

Toon began the third lap at 8.25am in Tambon Na Seng in Koh Kha district and covered the 10 kilometres to the Na Kaew intersection in Tambon Na Kaew.

The first lap had commenced much earlier at Tambon Mae Thod in Thoen district. Twenty kilometres later they were at the Ban Wang Yao technology research centre in Tambon Make Kua in Sob Prap district.

Another 10km took them to Duang Upatahm, a tapioca processing plant in Tambon Na Seng.

The fourth lap, 8.3km, was to end at an Esso petrol station in Tambon Wang Prao in Koh Kha district, and the fifth would be a 14km push to Ban Ploy, a restaurant in Tambon Chomphu in Muang district.

Toon has run 38 days, covered more than 1,902km, and raised Bt885.783 million in donations for 11 mid-level public hospitals.
