Video: Drama on a Bangkok bus as slash thief cornered

The quick response of a conductress and a driver on a Bangkok bus was praised in the Thai media after an incident at Pratunam yesterday.

 

The conductress noticed that there was a gang of slash thieves operating on the bus and she secretly told the driver.

 

He stopped at the Pratunam stop and announced that no one could get on or off the bus until police arrived.

 

Officials directing traffic in the area got on to calm the passengers while everyone waited for the police.

 

One of the people responsible - a tall person in the video - tried to run off when police came claiming they needed the toilet.

 

The driver gave evidence that two others had got off at a previous stop.

 

A search for a knife proved fruitless and Tnews reporting on the story did not mention any charges had been made.

 

But they praised the actions of the Thais on the bus as did the poster of the story on Facebook, Punyanutsiri Singsong, who said that the incident occurred about 7.10pm on Route 140.

 

She said that "Pa Thurian" the conductress and the driver did a great job.

When I lived in Malaysia I was in Butterworth on a bus when a gang of young 'greasers' started to harass a couple of young girls sitting in the back. The driver noticing what was happening slammed on the brakes stopping in the middle of the street, quickly a few of the Malaysian men and the driver grabbed the 3 hoodlums and literally threw them out into the middle of the street. Fantastic !

Hard to find out what is a "slash thief"... Google Look Up function returns no results... seems to be a term used with some computer games. Supposedly it is one who cuts open the bag to remove contents inside of it..... ???

 

(Initially I thought it vernacular for one who stole the piss!!!)

am i missing something here, in my book that is an absolute FAIL
