Hi just a quick.tip for Dtac users.

They have released an android app called Dtac call once this is installed you can open the app and make/recieve calls as if you was calling from a SIM card and still use free minute allowance but it uses data connection instead of cell.

Once switched on all calls will them route to that phone/tablet and when switched off will route back to SIM card.

Very handy if like me have an extra SIM.card for.data only means I can receive calls on either phone that I have.

Also good for people who travel abroad alot as don't need to pay overpriced calling fees or even from those who live abroad but still want to have a Thai SIM active.

Works for both Pre and Post paid.

This page indicates that this app. (or perhaps the ability to aggregate up to five numbers) is available for post-paid only? (Registration may also require a Thai ID?)

Are you using it? Are you pre-paid? Can you describe how you are using it?

'Forwarding' of incoming calls, when outside Thailand and on a non-DTAC network (mobile data or WiFi; and without the SIM installed) would be a plus, as would originating calls back to Thailand.

This seems like an extension of DTAC's VoWiFi offer?

So many contacts here use LINE so I used LINE's "free call" option to make/receive calls while I was in the U.S. last week. The call quality is pretty amazing.

Im not sure what they mean by Call All, I have post paid and i am using it to send and receive calls when i use my spare phone that doesn't have a sim card in.

I installed the app registered my number and then basically you go into the app switch it from Sim card option to Dtac app and then the phone rings on the Dtac app (It doesn't ring on the other phone with the sim card in while in Dtac app mode) when you switch it back to SIM it then it rings on the phone with the Sim in.

I think it is an extension of VOIP but for phones that do not support natively. Iphones and high end flagships all of this option built in.

I've tried reading the manual but am still unsure on whether domestic rates still apply when outside of Thailand ?

If so, are these calls made on the (foreign) mobile network or through wifi.

Regardless, i will install the app and report back after i've tried it out when i travel abroad next week.

It depends if incoming or outgoing, and who/where you are calling.

I think calls are made via WiFi.

From the FAQ: https://www.dtac.co.th/en/info/dtac-call.html
