'Yellow Tail'.. a decent drop for the price..  Also from Tesco.. 'Nadin'  red (I didn't like their white) and the Kookaburra red in the 2 liter bottle are OK.. about 300 Bt for the Nadin.. I think 400 for the 2 liter Kookaburra..

There wasn't much variety at the local Tesco Lotus [unless you wanted spirits] so I picked up a bottle of Jacob's Creek Grenache Shiraz and also a bottle of Vineyards World Wines Merlot both about 400-500 baht range.

Jacobs Creek is ok but at 600 Bt ($24.50 AU..!) I give it a miss.. $10 or $12 at most in OZ.. I'm a Merlot fan.. must try to find the Vinyards World Wines..

Nothing wrong with the Thai produced Mulberry Wine, I forget the brand name on the label but costs either side of 200 baht a bottle from Tesco Lotus and BigC.

After my horror at seeing Mont Clair and Castle Creek 2 litre skyrocket to over 500 baht, I was pleasantly surprised to see Castle Creek 2 litre at 380 baht at Tesco yesterday, naturally I grabbed one. Don't know if this was old stock, but I was buying it for 450 baht before the price hike, so this was even cheaper than it was before.

I recently tried a Mangosteen Wine a while back, very nice indeed, only a small bottle around half the volume of a normal wine bottle, but from memory, it was around 160 baht, I got it from a stall in the food court in Central on the right around the fast food places.

I agree, decent choice.

As folks who have possibly read some of my posts on the Montclair wine thread and a few other wine threads know, I'm not a fan of these fruit wines and have tasted just about all of them one way and another.

However the other evening a friend bought a bottle of Charles Strong red fruit wine along to a meal and encouraged me to taste it, so I did..........and it wasn't all bad, and would certainly compete, if not better, those of Montclair, Castle Creek, Cedar Creek, Mar Y Sol etc, so it was a pleasant surprise.

According to the blurb on the label it is a wine from Australia (New South Wales) and uses grapes and other fruit from one particular vineyard holding, and at 199 baht a bottle, IMO it has to be the best fruit wine available here.

Not saying that I will go out and buy any as of now, however nice to know if I should get down to my last few baht!!
