Samsung phones "region lock" ?

Featured Replies

If you buy a Samsung phone in Thailand will it be region locked ie to stop grey imports, or can you use the phone worldwide ?

 Thanks in advance.

Used mine from Cairo, Beirut, Middle East to Japan and Oz without problems.

The only thing I've found is contract plan phones from AIS Dtac etc tend to be locked to their SIM cards for the duration of the plan but that's easy to get around.

New Samsung phones running Android 4.3 or higher, such as the Note 8, have a regional activation, meaning a Note 8 sold in Thailand will need to be activated with an "Asian" SIM card, but once you have accumulated at least 5 minutes of calls using the Asian SIM, can then be used anywhere, with any SIM card.
