His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn has advised the Royal Irrigation Department to quickly improve and reinforce over 20 old dams in the northeastern provinces to be in stable condition to prevent damages from bursting.

 

The royal advice came after the Huey Sai Khamin dam burst when the “Sonca” tropical storm hit the country last year, causing massive floodings in the Northeast.

 

According to the director-general of the Royal Irrigation Department Mr Thongplaew Kongchan, the Huey Sai Khamin dam has been fixed and reinforced and will be able to withstand the next monsoon season.
