The City Hall has decided to scrap a pedestrian’s bridge across the Chao Phraya river from Tha Prachan pier to Siriraj hospital because the project is not worth the spending.

Bangkok governor Pol Gen Aswin Kwanmuang said Monday that he had ordered the two-tiered pedestrian’s bridge project which has space to accommodate golf cars to travel back and forth scrapped because it had recently been assessed that the project was not financially feasible and the fund should be diverted for use in other projects which are more worthwhile.

Besides, the governor said that the pedestrian’s bridge would block the river’s view on both sides of the river and, moreover, the existing ferry boat service between Tha Prachan pier and Siriraj hospital is sufficient to cater to the need of commuters.
