I am vomiting yellow/green bile violently and uncontrollably.  Only that.  Although my appetite is not good, the food I eat is being kept down and coming out the other end.  My guts feel all topsy turvy though.  I don't think I have a fever.

See also my recent submission: recovering from appendicitis.

I am very scared as this is not normal, and it is the same thing that triggered a week of acute pain and eventual appendix removal (what was left of it anyway). The appendix was gangrenous.  After surgery I appeared to make an ok recovery but frequently complained of feeling sick to the pit of my stomach.  It is this progressive feeling that ends up with me puking the bile.  This is the second occasion, and on both occasions I've had a snack, a nap, and woken up feeling a bit off, and I can't shrug it off.  I am aware my stomach is completely empty, and that I really need to eat, but I can't stand the though of it- indeed it is like the main symptom is extreme hunger pangs!

I am thinking more straight even as I type this and can see that I most likely need to re-present myself to the hospital for observation, and I guess intravenous drugs as I can't stomach the oral antibiotics a moment longer (metronidazole, cefditoren).  The wound is nearly healed and I had the bandage checked today incidentally.

Any advice would be appreciated.  The main problem I am having is communicating symptoms to the Thai staff even though I am a language teaching professional and can speak some Thai.

I would prefer to have difficulties speaking to an expert over difficulties created by  speaking  naturally to the uninformed.

You need a doctor not an opinion from a bar stool  genius.

Sheryl is not the 'uninformed'.  And nobody is suggesting the communication barrier prevent one from going to the hospital.

Of course, I am going- in about an hour's time.

Just come back from hospital.  Doc did a check of stomach and reckons everything is fine.  No temperature.  Bowels operating normally.  Zeroed in on metronidazole as the most likely source from his experience, having satisfied himself I am tolerant of Tramadol, and reckons there was a lot of contaminants due to  the burst and gangrenous appendix.

I have been eating things I should not be near, eg, kfc.  I am going on to a bland liquid diet for a few days and focusing on small portions.

The wound has already healed.

You should only eat food that is easy for the stomach to digest, and drink a lot of fluid. Rice , banana and papaya works for me.

deep fried meat like KFC is the last thing that I would eat along with macdonals, etc...like balo said above, stick with things that are easy to digest; instant noodles, khao tom, fruit, etc...

I like bean and vegetable curries with homade flatbread but for that ye need to have some basic kitchen skills...

I'm now on rice soups, soup, egg, dry crackers, juice- liitle and often.  The nausea (which was dreadful) has gone, and I am not vomiting.

But my intestines and back are very hot to the touch, and I have a constant dull headache.

I go back to hospital in the next day or two for removal of staples.  I will speak to the doctor then, unless the symptoms markedly worsen.
