Fun in the streets of Pattaya.....not! ?

Featured Replies

Well, this is a first and I hope last for me....today as I was walking down a local Soi, two small kids, maybe 7 or 8 years old stopped me and asked for money / food.   I said a polite "No, not today"   They let me pass and as soon as I went by one of the little buggers put his hand in my back pocket....???? I told them to piss off and they just ran ahead of me screaming and giving me the finger.  Not to be outdone they than started throwing rocks at me all the way down the Soi until I ducked into an Internet Shop on Soi Buakhao.

your first mistake was talking to them ,even if politly.

ignore, and keep walking is what iv found most effective .

agreed avoid all eye contact with anyone that approaches you.just keep walking.

Little Thai pikeys enjoying your company bless them.

Good lord two kids. No big deal. All the advice about no eye contact and what if they accuse you of hitting them? Relax and enjoy life. Danger Will Rogers Danger. What kind of life do you have if you live constantly afraid of others especially kids? Peace

You afraid of two kids throwing rocks LMAO stay inside; eye contact with no one; wear protective clothing; have police on speed dial; go out only in day time with a buddy never alone; mace inside pocket; wallet tied to your inner thigh; shoes made for running; gloves to protect your hands; sunglasses to protect your eyes; be alert all the time; phone your mom and tell her where you are going and when you expect to return........ LMAO Have a nice anxiety laced existence. I choose to live and two kids no big deal.

Except pretty girls.

Never had this happen to me in Pattaya, Manila yes, and there was more than two of them.

Unlike some here I see it as relevant,  the area has taken another notch down.

Not much one can do, kids have impunity and it might well be a set-piece trying to get you to react with a view to some form of extortion.

You should stop giving people advice. You're not very good at it. Years back in Mumbai I was "jumped" by two urchins (possibly trying to pickpocket me). They came from behind and grabbed my left arm. Not knowing what was happening, and completely surprised, I pulled my arm away fast, and the two kids went flying -- not hard, but they collided, and one stumbled enough to put his hands on the ground. They then ran off, but some local Indian guys misread what happened and started to abuse me, saying I had attacked the kids. I scarpered -- real quick. Now, if that had happened in front of motortaxi guys in Walking Street, do you think I would be capable of writing this today? No -- I would have been beaten to a pulp. When you're out in the streets, you live by your wits -- simple. Keep your head down and your powder dry, people.

You are right....about Peace.....but maybe a piece of their scalp with a big arse rock....all in the name of fun....????????

This is worrisome. The kids could do some real damage and absolutely nothing would happen to them. This is the stuff that'll drive tourism away.

Yes,and slightly off subject, but could be here soon, with the police crack down in operation,he has never been threatened with telling the police that he 'tried to touch them up' if he didn't pay them, I saw and heard that in England, when a pair of very young 'Feral' boys did that to a bloke, probably not the only one,he just put his head down and quickly walked on, with them laughing their heads off.

Or grabbing their trouser pins.  Better to avoid any Thai male under the age of....actually, avoid them all.

Wow thanks for sharing the India story. So relevant to 2 kids in Pattaya. Powder dry LMAO. This is actually funny. If only I be like  you and I could walk outside everyday and say keep my wits about me because I could run into a couple of kids. ?. Traveled all over the world and you are the last person on earth I would want to walk around with. Do you ever have any peace or fun - try it you might experience a different pleasurable world.
