PHUKET: Thailand’s national air safety agency is investigating a Thai Airways flight from Hong Kong veering off the runway on landing at Phuket International Airport on Dec 28.

The respected The Aviation Herald, which reports air safety incidents supported with flight data, reported the incident as a “runway excursion on landing”.

“A Thai Airways Airbus A330-300, registration HS-TEO performing flight TG-609 from Hong Kong (China) to Phuket (Thailand), landed on Phuket's runway 09 at about 13:00L (06:00Z) but veered right off the runway,” see The Aviation Herald.

Any incident needs investigation whether large or small always aim not to repeat and make safer very glad that no body hurt

No doubt Thai Airways will be reading-up on the computer crime act.  Somebody will be for the high-jump, probably the whistle blower.

One would have to ask... respected by whom?

certainly not me, as describing an incident as a “runway excursion” is laughable, at best.

but surprisingly, it’s not all bad....

“However, Thailand’s national air safety agency reported the occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated, said the report.”

Can you see what I see. That plane looks lke a Boeing 747 with 4 engines with the extended top floor. An AB 330-300 has 2 engines.

Above my comment there is a picture. FLY WITH LATAM AIRLINES. That plane is an Air Bus 330-300.

Why can't the pilot just claim "brake failure?"

Could well be the brakes on one side were not fully functional

I doubt it.

Surely it had to be due to ice on the runway.  :cheesy:

... which means they'd want to quickly put it all into the Cold Case basket

They've just used a file picture of a 747 parked at Phuket. Lazy journalism.

A bit misleading for some who wouldn't know the difference.
