Following the Kiwi,s great display at the MCG today I think the poms will be on the Wednesday flight back to Blighty. It took a record one-day run chase for Punter Pontings boys to win today, a great century to the captain (a Tasmanian of course)

Posted

The game aint over yet, I thought the south pacific poms had it in the bag after the way the northern pms started, but 33 runs off 16 balls needed now, good game.

well that's it we play the northern whiners, was a situation I preferred actually.

bring it on soapdodgers, you aint on the next plane home now. :o

What is it they say about pride coming before a fall?

You never know what could happen with a couple of dodgy Duckworth/Lewis scenarios :o

Just like the australian National Soccer Team losing 3..1 against an injury weakened Denmark team this morning, as soon as they have to play against a halfway decent european soccer team , they get flogged and of course when they lose the range of excuses is laughable, In the aftermatch interview 2 of the excuses were , the Aussie team had difficulties with the pitch and were not properly acclimatised, that their defence played like crap had nothing to do with it : But then thats Australian sport for you, When they win, they crucify the teams they beat, but when they lose It is everybodies fault but their own!! :D Nignoy

As usual Nignoy, in your haste to stick the boots into your adopted country accuracy was the loser. The following report has a more unbiased view of the respective strengths of the two sides.

No Danish delight for Qantas Socceroos

Wednesday, 7 February 2007

The Qantas Socceroos unbeaten run in London has come to end, after going down to a very classy Denmark side 3-1 this morning. The Danes scored three first half goals, with Australia’s captain for the game Brett Emerton, scoring a late consolation goal.

While the scoreline says Australia was well beaten, the match was much closer than that suggests and the entertaining match could well have featured many more goals, with Australia having two disallowed and one off the crossbar.

Denmark, who are preparing for a crucial Euro 2008 qualifier against Spain next month, went into the match almost at full strength, while Australian coach Graham Arnold was forced to make eight changes to his initial squad, including the late withdrawal of Mark Viduka.

Crockers, me old mucker...

Not sure what that quote was meant to prove except you put up a jolly good fight against the Danes???

Cricket Rankings - Aus world champs, England 2nd

Rugger Rankings - Eng world champs, Aus not even close

Footie Rankings - Eng kinda OK, Aus several hundred places below

Golf - You obviously need to be included in one of the Rider Cup teams coz your golfers are THAT good!

Sheep Shagging - OK - you got us on that one...

In summary - you are really, really good at one sport, but <deleted> at all the rest :D

And we're gonna beat you in the Triangular finals :o

This thread is all about one day cricket but it seems that the Poms are trying to throw a spanner in the works by boasting of their prowess in some other insignificant sports.

I can do exactly the same by inviting you Poms to click here and take a look at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games medal list.

Great Britain are well behind the Aussies in the final medal count.

I'll let somebody else look up the medal count for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

I suppose the Poms will be boasting about their dart playing abilities next...or maybe they are expert marbles players. :o

I have never tried to say that UK were great in any sport, check all my threads , But what I am saying is that australians are quick to point the finger, but when their own players get caught taking drugs, being involved in Bribery,Violence and Rape, 9 times out of ten it gets treated as high jinks and swept under the carpet, when was the last time a top european rugby team were accused of Gangrape or a Team Captain prosecuted for smearing Faeces on a motel walls, It sems to me that the critism of anything Australian is Frowned is just not acceptible :D Nignoy

Running, jumping and throwing - of course you're good at that! Three of the prime requisites of being a criminal! Jeez! Last time I went through immigration on arrival in Sydney they asked me "do you have a criminal record?" Proudly, I said "No!" "Well then," came the reply, "you can piss off coz you won't fit in here!"

Arf, arf! :bah:;):D:D:bah::D:o

Sorry guys - only joking! I know that you larrikins that hang around Alf Stewart's bait shop can take a joke, you flamin' galahs, you!

Moving on, the finals start tomorrow.

If the South African hadn't been so quick to jump on a plane and go home crying to mommy, his cracked ribs would be healed enough to play by now. :D

Perhaps he should get a lesson in guts from Symonds, who had his ruptured arm muscle reattached to the bone one day, then checked himself out of hospital to go to the big cricket awards pissup the next day!

On a separate, but related note, sacked umpire Darryl Hair is suing the ICC and the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) for racial discrimination over his treatment following the ball tampering affair!

I have never tried to say that UK were great in any sport, check all my threads ..........

Oh dear, Nignoy. You are such a worry. :D

I can assure you, that the last thing I want to do is read through all of your posts.

My last post was not aimed at you but you have jumped to your own defence....are you feeling guilty ??? :o

I was having a good natured dig at Jezchesters for not reading and adhering to the thread topic.

He can't read the topic properly, exactly the same as the Pommie cricket team that can never read the play. :D

I think his roots were somewhere in the Carribean, much like the English Olympic team.

Congratulations England, a great win!

Collingwood picked a good moment to play his second innings of the summer.

Australia were given a great start by Hayden and Ponting, but the rest let the side down.

Hopefully this means we get a third final.

I reality, it means we get a final here in Adelaide and the playes get more divvy.

they played well and we played <deleted>.

prediction we win next game, decider in Adelaide and we win that, see if you have all the fives then shady

as flintoff says they want to take summat home.

Not sure if I care too much now. That result was great for cricket, but I fully expect you lot to take the series still. You have a greater will to win than us.

I enjoyed the game shady, saw a bit of the Oz innings, then had to bo back to w0rk, finally got home at over 25 for the soapies and yep it was a good contest finally.

Collingwood and Flintoff were good, with the bat and in the field.

well done lads
