There has been a very active topic about an expat with no private insurance cover on here......I am sure if nothing else insurance companies and brokers must be happy with all thus publicity.

That aside, I think it has truly highlighted the issue of medical insurance.. Whilst I know there are many different providers and policies out there, I thought it would be good to start a thread which could first of all summarise the main generic options in terms of cover as I am sire there are different levels and types along with some cover/benefits and prices.

Maybe some clever folk can ever do some cover to cost ratios etc or highlight what isnt worth getting coverage for as its fairly imexpensive, and what is worth getting coverage for.

I kmow there are many threads on this but I thought a more generic one would be helpful and yes I know that insurance is based on specific criteria in this case age, health of the person but again I would like this to be more generic and highlight options, etc.

Thanks

I am disqualified from this thread as on becoming 70 my premiums were increased by 50%, which I can't afford. I never used it anyway.

If I can manage it, I get free health treatment when I get back to Switzerland, so I am going with that option.
