Anyone built a steam shower? Also solar for water and lights?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I’m renovating a master bathroom that is an extension to our Udon house. Since I’m updating the shower I thought adding steam would be wonderful. ( a Chinese kit won’t do)

Has anyone built one in Thailand?

I also would like to install some solar collection to preheat the water tank and possibly power night lighting.

Any shared experiences are appreciated

interesting i can follow solar  for lighting   but could explain how one makes steam ?

genuine question  i would be interested in the steam side of things

i would expect quite a substantial solar array  to create  the sort of power you may require

Hi

Sorry if I was vague.

The solar is to pre-heat water in our storage tank so that the flow rate vs temperature rise makes it easier for shower heaters and a steam generator to give desired results no matter what the ambient outdoor temperature may be.

It has been a bit chilly in Udon this year so the water tank sings the same tune. I could sport for an electric tank but hoping to find a greener solution.

An occasional steam is a wonderful luxury.

Bump
Has no one here ever built one?
A good steam is great for health, can stop a cold or flu in it’s tracks and.......oh yah.... for non tea todlers can fix a hangover.

Need some help here if you can.
Thanks

I don't suppose you are talking about a sauna?  I've never even heard of a steam shower.  It sounds dangerous.  ??

5555 no not dangerous lar.
Steam and saunas both raise body temp but personally I prefer steam.
Outside generator with 1or 2 steam jets within the shower area.
Jets near the tap wall and a seat (for 2 at the uth er end.(appx 4’x5’)
It is the wall and ceiling construction that concerns me as I have yet to find a supplier ( other than prefab Ali baba) locally here in Udon or near by.

Yes, probably.
I did come across this site.

The choice of sauna vs steam can come down to personal preferences. Both have similar benefits.
I find steam/shower convenient and tend to use it more often than when I had a sauna that was used less routinely.
Steam ( depending on room size) gets hot quickly and high humidity while sauna has a higher operating temp but dry.
Sauna users know when to throw some water on the coals. Making steam

Well I found a nice tub, at least.
Bathroom Design ( I-spa) are based in Yanawa BKK and have superior quality tubs and imported motors, pumps and controls.
They do showers too but shrugged when I asked about steam. They said nobody seemed interested. Granted a sauna is hotter and theoretically higher medicinal values but in my experience I used my steam almost every day and shaving with a fogless mirror makes the alternative feel like torture.
