BANGKOK — Junta leader Prayuth Chan-ocha said Thursday that he’s been inspired by the doctrine of US President Donald Trump to put “Thailand First” when it comes to deciding when elections will take place.

Speaking to reporters at the Government House, Gen. Prayuth said a ranking American military official did not raise the question of elections in a meeting yesterday because the United States is “not worried” about whether Thailand holds them or not.

Trump acts quickly without warning, just ask  S. Korea and China about the tariffs he imposed on them 2 weeks ago.

He could revoke Thailand's favored  trade status at any time especially considering he does not like large trading deficits which it has with the US. As well as the fact US goods face high import taxes.

Prayut says he has to 'take care of his people' - right! 'His' people are the less than 1% at the top of the pyramid of power who dominate and enslave the other 99%.

Pretty much the same as every other government in the world - unfortunately!

When will people see past the "illusion" of politics and actually having a choice is never going to happen under the current systems!

Prayut is barefaced the way he goes about his business, he knows he will get away with it, what are the great bastions of "democracy" saying?

Nothing as usual!

Although I strongly believe in democracy in spite of it's recent global decay into doing little but providing spineless lackeys for corporate greed heads.

I say again, where Thailand is concerned who do they have to choose from uniforms or suites are there any real leaders in this country who at least show some interest in the things other than lining their own pockets.

What exactly do you call universal healthcare, micro-loans for the poor, raising minimum wages and investing in rural infrastructure?

Democracy bought all of the above to Thailand.

I thought it was feeding the slaves and showing the vaguest of interest in keeping them healthy, not forgetting helping them get into debt! silly me :(

Thank you Khun Prayut.  Keep pushing for economic stability with projects being implemented, also keep assisting the poor & farmers in rural villages.

More like: Keep seeking the public approval of foreigners to justify your actions and position to your people.
