Driving License not on Computer.

Featured Replies

OP, as per your original post, your 5 year license expired in 2015, its now 2018, 3 years expiry.

You got a 1 year license (1st license was 1 year back then) in 2009 (expiry 2010), then a 5 year license in 2010, expiry 2015.

Whether its in the system or not is irrelevant, its expired for a long time and is no longer renewable. Maybe its in the expired licence database.

Its conceivable that after a couple of years of not being renewed, records are wiped from the database or archived etc.

As I said earlier, my Thai wife is in the same position as you, she let her 5 year license expire a couple of years ago and now has to start again. She hasnt made any enquiries as to whether her long expired license is "still in the system" as it means nothing. The DLT, driving schools (even the bogus ones) have all said she needs to start again.

The only thing she has been told is that her new license will be a 5 year license because she held a 5 year licence before, in that respect there must be some record of old expired licenses. Maybe if you explain its an "expired" license they can find a record of it.

  • I would go to Nakhon Sawan DLT and see what they say, with a Thai speaker to talk...

It is just as well I did not have to make any claims. If this happened in a western country I could do something about it, but this being a  third world country, probably not.

  • All you have to do is apply for a new licence the same way as you did before and start again.   On the subject of incompetence, that wouldn't have raised it's ugly head if you (a) hadn't let

My five year car license expired about four months ago round about the same time I lost it, I'm sorry, this is my fault. 2009 was the year I bought my car, not got my license I just used my UK license and got my car license about three years later. I'm really sorry about that and I appreciate the time you have taken to try and help me.
