Surat Thani to Chumphon

Featured Replies

Has anyone driven from Surat Thani to Chumphon recently or vice versa I am interested in type of road etc dual or single and approximate time needed any other info would be appreciated

Dual carriageway both ways. Condition is improved as they have been upgrading, but it still has areas where it reduced to one lane each way where they are fixing the road (as of December when i last did it). Takes about 2.30 if you are taking it normal speed. Its very rural and not a huge amount of traffic, but because its rural you can get some 'rural' driving from locals. Pulling out without looking, dodgy looking u turns, parking and resting on blind corners etc. All in all not a bad drive.

Many thanks sounds okay

Some baiting and bickering posts have been removed. Time to end it.

drive it often, dual all the way, some road works and the usual  stay in the overtaking lane idiots in their loaded trucks. Takes us around 2 hours  most trips, plenty of petrol stations and several traffic lights too but not a bad drive overall.

Just drove it a couple of weeks ago, as others have said dual lanes each direction, good condition and a couple of areas of road work. Nice drive.
