Two teens arrested for encouraging road racing on Facebook

By The Nation

Two 18-year-old teens have been arrested for allegedly using their Facebook pages to encourage road racing, Tourist Police deputy commissioner Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakpal said on Saturday.

He said the first teen was arrested on Friday for allegedly using his Rotsing Bangsue (Racing motorcycles of Bang Sue) page to encourage road racing on the night of Valentine’s Day on Rama VI Road, Kamphaeng Phet Road and Vibhavadi Road.

His page has about 1,000 followers.

He was arrested in an alley behind Wat Phai Ton in Bangkok’s Bang Sue district.

The second teen was arrested on Friday on Soi Pradu in Bang Sue.

He allegedly used his Wairoon Thanon Thuan (Youths of Wild Roads of Bang Sue) page to encourage road racing on the same night and same roads as the first teen.

His page has about 1,500 followers

So few followers hardly a viral storm. Must be something else behind this. Having said that any way to clear this scourge.. On the other hand what future have these kids got? And what else do they have to do? No future unless you were lucky enough to have popped out of your mother into a better family. Beyond that just take a look at the role models. That's why I pulled my kids back to the uk.

Today, there was an article on MSN that shows what should be done.  People in Australia had been caught racing their cars.  All appeared in court and were found guilty.  Their vehicles, some of which were very expensive toys, were immediately put into a crusher and the owners were not allowed to say goodbye before the heavy metal executed each and every one.  One car had a complete set of hubcaps worth about A$4,000 and they went as well.  Of course, the authorities could have been compassionate and stripped the cars and sold all of the items and given the money to charity but instead carried out the orders of the court to provide examples because the fate of the cars was videoed and used to publicise the details and the results of people caught racing.  Pity such does not happen here.
