looking for fishing stores in phuket...

just wondering if anyone can recommend a fishing store in the chalong, kata/karon, patong area.

in particular im looking for a hand spear or hawaiian sling as theyre also called.

There's one near wine connection Chalong (same side a few shops south) on ChaoFa east, another in Rawai on Wiset rd.

Don't know if either have what your after, maybe take picture with you to show them.

There's more around phuket, googles your friend.

never seen anyone using a Hawaiian sling here in Phuket, (i used them when i lived in the Bahamas)

i was reading its illegal to spearfish in thailand...yet many shops sell spearguns???

Yeah it is and they do..have seen some people going out at Nai Harn to spear fish, We enjoy fishing but definitely not a fan of spearfishing (Don't mind what you call a hawaiian sling, we call the gigee's where i come from), fish in Asia have a hard time getting to size as it is.

There is a fishing gear shop at the entrance of Soi 10 Patak Road in Karon.

ill check on those places mentioned

with the wet season arriving its harder to handspear with the murky water...

phuket town near the clock circle is one shop who has plenty of spear guns and parts. the owner himself goes spearfishing, he maybe can give up some of his spots, nice guy.
