Chiang Rai local people

Featured Replies

I find the local people in Chiang Rai to be very unfriendly.

I can hardly see someone smiling. Even at 7eleven they're so rude.

Is your experience similar to mine?

I haven't been in Chiang Rai for too long, but in my time there i didn't notice a difference between there and people in Bangkok.

So i would say it depends what you are used to. After staying in Udon for a while i have to say that the people here are the most welcoming, friendly and honest people who i have met in Thailand, so if you stayed in Isaan before then maybe Chiang Rai seems unfriendly.

I met a very rude woman in a shop there but couldn't say if that's common.

Not the case I've found in my 4 times experience, one of the best towns in the outskirts on my list.
