Governor approached to seek clarification on Phimai historical park

A group of residents and business operators in Phimai district on Tuesday (Mar 20) lodged a petition with Nakhon Ratchasima governor Wichien Chantharanothai seeking his help to talk with the Fine Arts Department over its declaration of Phimai ruins and its surrounding area covering 2,600 rai of land as historical park.

 

The petitioners claimed that the zoning of the historical park had seriously affected their livelihood because it encompassed their residential and commercial areas.

 

They also complained that the zoning had caused the price of their land to drop and discouraged new investment.

going with the locals on this; comparison is often made to sukhothai and it's large historical park;

having lived there for more than a little , i call tell you that park is about 14 km from the "new" sukhothai city center and no-one lives particularly close to the park; only vendors ripping off tourists
