does anyone have information about accident insurance? best coverage and competitive price. my thai wife seems to think the coverage provided by her bank through the atm card is sufficient. i also pay 500 baht more a year for this coverage but consider it less than stellar. i appreciate any insight. thank you.

Thai have free or 30 baht hospital care so few bother with insurance.  Unless you are in a class that probably does not need insurance getting payment may be an issue.  Insurance is not as closely regulated as in some other countries.

Personal accident insurances are just a waste of money. The most relevant stuff is covered by the health insurance already, and the payout sums are usually very low

People may not have health insurance and if you pay a higher premium the payout per accident can be increased, most I've seen is 625k

But posters wife is Thai so should be covered for medical/hospital care without extra insurance.

'Personal accident insurances are just a waste of money".

...unless you have an accident, of course.  PA cover is a lot cheaper than health insurance, so hardly "a waste of money".

Cover is not "usually very low" although that is relative and depends on your definition of "very low", and a very low level of cover would result in very low premiums generally.  Is a not unusual B1-5,000,000 level of cover "very low"?  I don't think it is.
