webfact Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Police arrest suspected beggar gang leader By The Nation Police arrested a Myanmar man who was accused of organising several of his compatriots under 18 to sell candy and beg for money on the streets of Bangkok’s Huai Kwang district early on Tuesday morning. Suspect Ae Myan Thong, 24, was arrested at 12.40am along with a basket containing 21 packs of candy and Bt47 in cash. Several children in his alleged gang were sent to be cared for by the Social Development and Human Security Ministry, said Children and Women Protection Sub-Division superintendant Pol Colonel Jirakrit Jarunpat. The young man was initially charged for human trafficking by forcing and procuring persons under 18 to illegal work with or without the persons’ consent. Jirakrit said the arrest of the alleged beggar gang leader was part of the Royal Thai Police’s policy to crack down on all crimes, especially those in human trafficking victimising children. the guest Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Shame EU doesn't do the same with the beggars there. You could certainly take a leaf out of Thailand's book. 1

Whether there was 47 baht or 47,000 baht in his possession doesn't change the fact that this was quasi slavery. These kids are promised the moon only to find out that they are trapped. Often forced to become addicted to yaba it just gets worse for them. So yes indeed he was making a "killing". The fact that you do not see the destroyed lives or have to deal with the damaged children doesn't lessen the gravity of this disgusting selfish practice. The slavemaster/pimp belongs in jail. 1
