they charged me 350 baht for tolls I did not use, according to their GPS.records. (Sukhumvit entry to Do Muang, 2 tollboths in total.)

I complained about the overcharge, and they said the total trip cost was within norms so tough luck! no correction. I asked for tolls receipts but no reply.

last time I use them!

I was thinking uber is finished in Thailand and now Grap take over their business.

As I am not an Uber user.. I was under the impression you always know the price before use their service…So if you not like their price only not accept… or can you give me some more information as I not really have knowledge with Uber...

Uber from/to the airports is always fixed price

Your title "uber to Don Muang- 520 baht tolls!!"

Your first sentence "they charged me 350 baht for tolls"

Not a fixed price when I used them before.

And not this time. They gave an estimated price, as for usual trips. After the trip, they sent me details of the charges, which included:

Laksi Toll - BHT 70 (12:00 AM - 11:59 PM) (?)    70.00
Don Muang Toll - BHT 70 (12:00 AM - 11:59 PM) (?)    70.00
Sukhumvit - CMN Exp. Toll (?)    50.00
Bang Khen Toll - BHT 70 (12:00 AM - 11:59 PM) (?)    70.00
Sutthisan Toll -BHT 70 (12:00 AM - 11:59 PM) (?)    70.00
Ratchadapisek Toll -BHT 70 (12:00 AM - 11:59 PM) (?)    70.00
Din Daeng Toll - BHT 70 (12:00 AM - 11:59 PM) (?)    70.00
Airport Surcharge (?)    50.00

In their e-mail to me, they said they charged tolls according to what their GPS software shows. I've had a similar problem in Bangkok city when the road I was on passed under an elevated highway that had a toll entrance close by. Uber refunded those charges in the past.

I earlier posted from my mobile phone, with small screen and fat fingers, so my typing was very poor. If you add up these charges, it is 520 baht, as in the subject line.

I actually should have paid 120 baht in tolls, and maybe the 50 baht airport surcharge, I don't know. 520-120-50=350.

Sorry for causing you confusion.

Honestly the Taxis/cabs in BKK are so cheap and plentiful there is no reason to use Uber or Grab, ive never paid more than 400 ( average 350) including tolls from the new airport, the most from Don Mueang to the down town area was 300 and i was stuck in traffic for an hour..

Uber works in high priced countries like Australia....but here i still prefer a taxi over Uber as i dont like that there a law amongst them selves that there hard to be contacted and that its deducted from your card you have little to no control and have to do all the chasing if something is amiss...

I see one advantage in "Grap". And this is if you search for a taxi in a location where it is difficult to find one which is willing to bring you to the place you want. But from the Airport I completely agree with you no need for "Grap".

I live near Lak Si toll and have never paid 70 Baht and there is no surcharge at the airport.  That fee is for being picked up at the airport not for being dropped off.  You never mentioned where you got the taxi from and it is possible to travel to Don Muang without using tollways as Viphavadi Road goes right out to the airport and can be accessed very easily from most locations.

Just checked my last DM trip with Uber - Ive got the same as you - charging for every entrance gate on to the Don Muang toll, even though obviously it was only paid once - at din Deang I think? where the chalerm mahanakhon toll ends, and then onto the don muang elevated expressway.

Also the surcharge, which unless its an Uber surcharge, shouldnt apply to drop offs.

Lets see what they say, maybe part of their exit scam - I put it for fare review through the app.

Impossible.

Fare for the 34Km = 233 Baht

Waiting time = 2 Baht a minute

The maximum time you could have been stuck in traffic was 34 minutes.

(The above is not even including toll charges)

I was confusing a time long ago, when I use to stay out in Don Muang because of ex TGF.

Maybe 50B more...since  thats only $AU2 I didn't sweat .....and I was in that Taxi for 90 min, wasn't from Don Muang was from Lad Phrao/Rathayothin area, this was within the last year..

As I said Taxi's are cheap in Thailand absolutely not reason to hire Uber and risk getting a cowboy, or have issues with fare.

I set up an Uber account here in Melbourne a few years ago the idea was to use to go to the airport, thats when I realised the airport run wasn't so cost affective, then the issues I had trying to talk to them during set up and later when I wanted my credit card details deleted form there data base...no f*****in reply....No wont use anywhere..

Nope. Not confused at all.

The list of tolls listed are a cut and paste from the e-mail they sent me detailing the charges. Also matches what was listed in the app, after my ride.

Perhaps re-read, a bit more slowly this time.

I like having the option, definitely.

more then once I have had night flights and NO taxi would take me from downtown bkk (sukhumvit) to the airport on the meter.

after midnight they refuse to use the meter and only quote a high fixed price. My guess is because the sky train and other options are not there.

rail link is 24 hrs needed. Taxi drivers can rot for all I care.

Please do that.     OK?

So you hate a lack of regulation?    YES?

Does that mean you find some regulation favorable?

You have said that you think he’s confused....how about you explain where you think he’s confused, succinctly??

Here my trip receipt

I would take anything over dealing with transportation personnel at this point.

self driving cars, paying more for less interaction, rail links, bts etc. that's what many years of bs will do to this man.

looking forward to future automation in areas like of customs, transportation, immigration. Everything done via camera or ATM type setup.

i would rather be cheated by computer like the poster above was, then cheated in person. It's easier and less aggravating for me at least.

what to do with all those workers? Pay them to clean the beaches. It's all unskilled labor anyhow.
