Four injured in balloon crash in Chon Buri

By The Nation

Four people were injured on Monday night when a hot-air balloon taking Thai tourists on rides above a food fair in Si Racha, broke from its mooring and crashed onto the roof of a nearby warehouse.

The accident happened in Moo 11 village in Tambon Nong Kham.

The balloon pilot, Apiradee Thonusit, 32, and three tourists – Chairat Sopradit, 31, Phatthakorn Panpoh, 31 and their son, Watcharakiart Sopradit, 3 – were injured.

Police said a strong wind during rain caused the balloon to slip from the pole it was tied to.

Four workers tried to pull rope after it slipped but the rope broke and the balloon eventually fell on the roof of a warehouse on the opposite side of the road.

Why classify locals as tourists?

Perhaps because they come from a different province than Si Racha.

If a Scotsman for example is on holiday in Cornwall would you class him as a local or a tourist?

Domestic tourists (from another region of Thailand) A bit like me being born & bred in London and visiting Edinburgh in Scotland = Tourist. Hope that helps :whistling:

I doubt if they checked their ID cards to see if they were from another province and then questioned them to determine that they weren't working in Chonburi just so they could call them as tourists.

If they're visiting from another part of Thailand then they're classified as tourists.... maybe they were'nt locals?

Those 3 tourists sound like they have Thai names???

Well, do all tourists have to come from outside Thailand?   Maybe they are down visiting from Chiang Mai or some other place?  Aren't they considered tourists?

If they were taken to the hospital then the hospital would have checked their ID cards as normal and found that they were from a different province.
