This is the moment a Thai toddler narrowly avoids being crushed to death by a chest of draws.

The incident happened on 2 April when the toddler was left to play unattended with his brother at their home in Udon Thani.

CCTV footage from their house shows the boy opening the drawers one by by.

As he then pulls at one of the middle drawers the whole unit comes crashing to floor, knocking the boy off his feet.

Incredibly, the boy manages to just escape being crushed, with only the corner of the drawers appearing to clip the toddler as he scurries away.

Footage of the clip was shared to the YouLike Facebook page where it has been viewed almost 40,000 times.

I can't be 100% sure but those drawers look like they contain toys, which is a pretty dumb place to store anything related to young children especially if they know what's there. A chest of drawers should be out of bounds to toddlers,  especially when you choose to leave your kids unattended as this woman did.

physical violence is never the answer    555

It certainly is when you encounter an aggressive piece of furniture. I would have smashed it up and burned it.

Would not trust it if there were kids in the home.

The wee guy was lucky. That's for sure.

But I do like when the big brother instantly points to the wee bro when Mum turns up!

Hasn't pointing just been outlawed by the police? He will have draw a stick-man image of his brother, then circle it in red, as per the RTP new policy.

Well at least mum's first concern was for the toddler, not what had been damaged or the mess.

Obviously a family that does not have to care too much about some broken furniture.

If there was any "real" concern they wouldnt have been left on their own for ANY reason.

Why is it "especially for Udonthani"?

Do they have a reputation of being untidy in Udon?

Not untidy, but the class that can afford such a decorated home is smaller in Udon than in Phuket west coast maybe?

Not fair. She was upstairs cleaning and heard the commotion. She was monitoring the kids' activity (by listening). Like one other commenter, I appreciate the fact that she comforted the child first, evidently without scolding.

say that when it sticks it  finger in an electrical socket as she holds the charred  remains, you dont monitor  kids  by listening.

Crushed to death ?

Talk about a long drawn out OTT bit of reporting.

IKEA drawers like these have killed several toddlers recently. IKEA now suggest attaching the drawers to the wall. It's very serious.
