Living Well on a Budget in Thailand
Yeah, today i got an informational email about health insurers and govt workers which included the zooming costs of BC/BS since 2016. Then I looked at the what I thought would be great savings of one plus one - just under a 100 USD a month so not even close to what I thougt it would be. Lots of comments from customers and many are in fact dropping BC/BS for cheaper plans but the overseas full coverage keeps me there. What I hate most is that the increases are caused by the poor diets of people meaning that the pharmas and doctors are kept busy taking care of people that don't take enough care of themselves. So I guess the best thing for me and my family is to eat better diets, some exercise, etc...BTW I have changed my diet and have been eating well for years, plus since HS I have exercised regularly nowadays 1.5 to 2+ hours a day and don't take any medicines. I haven't even had a headache for over 25 years so not even aspirin/tylenol. No drugs nor alcohol. But, I still have to pay for the health care as I have read too many stories of how illness and/or accidents bankrupted too many people. I do wish you the best of course and hope life is great for you too. -

Community Body of Man with Hanuman Tattoo Found in Abandoned Building in Phuket
Picture courtesy of Kaoded. A man’s body has been discovered in a deserted building in Kathu district, Phuket, with authorities estimating he had been dead for approximately seven days. The deceased had a distinctive tattoo of the Hindu deity Hanuman on his back. At around 17:40 on 21 April, Pol. Lt. Chaiwat Makkaew, deputy investigator at Kathu Police Station, received a report of a body found inside the abandoned “William Plaza” building, located in Moo 1, Kathu subdistrict. Upon arrival at the scene, investigators were joined by forensic officers from Vachira Phuket Hospital and personnel from the Kusoldharm Foundation. They found the body of a Thai male, believed to be around 40 years old. No identification documents were found on the body, and there were no signs of physical assault or struggle in the surrounding area. Local residents informed police that the man was likely a homeless individual suffering from mental health issues. He had reportedly been squatting in the building for around two months prior to his death. The body has been taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation and to try to identify the individual. Authorities have asked anyone with information about the man’s identity to come forward. Adapted by ASEAN Now from Kaoded. -- 2025-04-23 -
