Same same every year in that location...maybe request to add as a hotspot in FAQ thread.  Try taking Sukhumwit instead next year(optional detour down Soi Batman).  Of course, most people would U turn before getting attacked......

oh yes i do, i just returned after 3 years of complete misery in cambodia,

life has never been so rotten to the core, i wanted to end it except

i believe if you die in cambodia, you end up in hell,

wondering about the god forsaken sois with worn out foam mattresses

as the only view, all the while feeding on so miserable food without meat

that satan himself couldnt have thought up any worse existence

That is a literary quality post.  Why not write an e-book on this, or at least an article on least desirable places to retire for International Living(before they add it to the list of most desirable!)

For many on here Cambodia is the answer to Thailand.  Claims that is the greatest place in SEA.

If you venture out at anytime during Songkran  you must be prepared to get wet. Best way to avoid it is to stay at home. Buy a multi coloured shirt, leave all your non-waterproof possessions at home and join the fun.

I have not seen ANY water throwing on 3rd Road at all, since it all kicked off.

Today is Naklua's celebration, which spills over into Pattaya. Lot more "celebrants" around,

"join the fun"...............

Yes the 18th and 19th are the two worst days.

Enjoy.

Funny, from 1995-2000 I actually enjoyed it.

It (as many say now) seems to have morphed into something a tad different from the good old (respectful) days.

Get your feet up and relax until the evening of the 19th (my birthday and therefore celebrate it a day late every year because of the death and destruction). Maybe a little OTT there ;)

Cambodia celebrates the Cambodian New Year from 13 to 15 April (ចូលឆ្នាំខ្មែរ or សង្ក្រាន្ត). The Lao New Year, called Songkran (ສົງກຣານ) in the Lao language, is celebrated every year from 13 to 15 April..Burma was dreadful for their equivalent. PI, Vietnam, China don't to songkran

I agree. All these grown men whining about getting a little bit wet is so childish.

Wrong.  Some people do not like water of unknown origin thrown at them.  Impossible to know what exactly is in there, but it is definitely not Evian quality water from France.  Some people also have skin allergies.

As opposed to all these mature grown men who feel it necessary to stand in the street and throw water at people.

I bet I can guess where you are from......

10 baht gets you a waterproof poncho at any 7-eleven or Family Mart.
