Yesterday the queue was back to the ramp, about 3pm, it seemed a lot of people were being sent to any and all desks. Got the impression that some who had been in the 'snake' for a while weren't too happy about the later arrivals were being sent to other desks.

Even the BOF queue (70+) had family groups being sent there.

Most 2 seat booths only had 1 officer in.

So nothings changed

I'm usually confronted with 1 hr waits

If at the back of the queue I reckon at least an hour maybe two yesterday.

That irritates me, too when the guys who arrived an hour after me get shunted to the front of a different line.  But the times I've seen that done at Swampy, the assistants usually open the barrier at the front of the line and funnel those people over to the special lines.  But people being people, I can imagine they take the easier way occasionally and just let the new arrivals move over.

Auto gates for the passports allowed there were having some problems as well from what I could see. People spending many long minutes trying to read instructions, press the the correct panel on the screen and putting in the passport and getting a big red cross on the screen a few times. Even the girl who was helping was running backwards and forwards a lot trying to help people get through.

That may have been why they were unable to take the time to open the barriers at the front of the queue.  If they were run ragged due to problems with the Thai only (I'm assuming) auto-gates, they couldn't focus on being "fair" the the rest of the people in queue.

I would guess it's the first (or second) Songkran since the auto-gates were implemented, and a lot of that crush were first time users.

Since some time in 2017 Singaporean passports were allowed but I not sure if it is limited to some gates and not all.
