The two screen sign in security joke

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a quite easy solution to a "sign into MS account problem". There's nothing wrong with my e-mail address and i can sign in access my hotmail account, etc. But:

Sometimes a small window on the lower right side pops up telling me to follow the security check, basically just filling in my password. All is fine, until the second screen shows up, where the hotmail E-mail address is misspelled. Instead of hotmail, it shows hotnail, with an n.

I don't want to change my password and quite a few sessions with a MS techie were as useless as hemorrhoids. One even lied to me and said that they can't take over remotely, which is usually the easiest solution.

I'd deeply appreciate if someone has got an idea on how to solve this issue, please see the two attached screenshots.

Screenshot one wants the password and when I fill it in, the second screen pops up with the misspelled e-mail address. Of course can't you validate with your password if there's a non existing e-mail address, in this case my xxxxxxxx@hotnail.com

All programs are working well, but it's annoying to see these windows popping up from time to time. Any idea?

Thanks a lot for any useful input.

You need to login to your Microsoft account: https://account.microsoft.com

In the "Security" box click on "Update"

In the "Update your security info" box click on "UPDATE INFO"

If asked, re-enter your credentials which will take you to your "Security Settings" page.

Within that page remove the offending "hotnail" address and enter a valid one.

I found a solution, but there's no way to it the way you've suggested.

There's no way to get to the wrong hotmail address with an n.

I've added my phone number as a security option, just deleted the phone number and added it again.

Then I received a code, filled it in and the screen doesn't pop up anymore.

   Thank you very much.
