The Ubon Ratchathani International Airport resumed its services on Wednesday morning after the blackout on the runway which caused seven flights to be cancelled on Tuesday evening.

The airport announced that the disruption of power to the runway lights and hangar lights caused four flights from Bangkok to be unable to land and three flights from Ubon Ratchathani to be cancelled.

The cancellation of the departing flights stranded some 1,000 passengers at the airport and AirAsia had to take its passengers by bus to fly from Roi Et while Thai Smiles and Nok Air delayed its flights until Wednesday.

Engineers from Roi Et and Buri Ram airports raced to fix the power cables from the power control room to the runways and the hangar and fixed them by early Wednesday.

Officials from Bangkok will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the blackout.
