BANGKOK — Thaksin Shinawatra and his sister Yingluck Shinawatra are in Singapore through Saturday, a source close to Pheu Thai Party said today.

 

The two former leaders, who fled Thailand in the face of separate corruption convictions, are said to have attended a Thursday conference on blockchain technology in the island city state. Their last day in Singapore will coincide with a major anti-junta protest in Bangkok.

No, he is not contacting the Singaporean authorities.

 

If he did that, then he would have to ask for their arrest.

 

If they ask for their arrest, Singapore would refuse.

 

If Singapore refused, it would be a huge loss of face for the Junta/Prayut.

 

Face it Thailand, no country will extradite either of them because the Thai legal system, especially as it relates to "political" crimes, is considered an international laughing stock. 

 

If you force a country to explain why they will not extradite, they will tell you.

 

And you wouldn't like that...

Ex-MPs to meet Thaksin and Yingluck in Singapore

Pheu Thai Party ex-MPs will be flying to Singapore this weekend to meet the two Shinawatra ex-premiers to discuss the party’s election strategy.

 

While Thaksin Shinawatra told the Japanese media earlier that Pheu Thai would gain a landslide electoral victory, the party would reportedly have to reset its strategy following the junta’s absorbance of politicians from various blocs.

 

The party also faces a plunging number of members following the junta’s requirements for them to verify their memberships within April only.

 

According to a source from the security agency, Thaksin’s appearance to the party members is also expected to yield marketing benefits to the party and boost trust.

 

Visiting Pheu Thai figures would include Yingluck Shinawatra’s ex-deputy Chalerm Yubanrung, ex-minister Worawat Auapinyakul and the party’s acting deputy leader Kirang Kantinan, according to the party source.

 

“The junta’s attraction to politicians is what they might be discussing,” said ex-Pheu Thai MP Samart Kaewmeechai “They will also be seeking for the new party’s leader though it should not be urgent.”

 

Samart said possible candidates, ex-ministers Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan and Chadchart Sittipunt, could all lead the party.

 

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, meanwhile, said that ex-MPs attending the meeting would not break the law given that the junta’s order, which banned certain groups from travelling outside Thailand, was already revoked.

 

However, Election Commission president Somchai Somcharoen warned that allowing outsiders, who are neither on the party’s board nor members, to guide the party would result in it being dissolved and candidates being barred from contesting the election.

Except that the paymaster wasn't convicted of a political crime, he broke the serious law about abuse of authority (nothing whatever to do with politics) and was convicted and you know this well, plus the case was decided and he was given a 2 yr jail sentence during the reign of his own party.

 

So easy to tell serious unturths when you think nobody is watching.

The way I see it is the shins are flying around Asia try to drum up support for democracy for Thailand which is the only hope for little sister to get back in power and crucify all her enemies and wanting to meet with prime ministers of those countries who have more important things than getting their hands dirty with these two.

One must admit though that she is one real hottie !!.....pity she was not in some other tropical seaside paradise and fitted in light and busty beach party attire !!

 

Hard to understand this society...people were moaning when she was in power, now they are moning even louder with the respected new "golden wing government"  on rule.

Respectfully, if you do not understand the political element of the legal system of Thailand, especially in cases involving higher-ups (General Rolex, the Red Bull Heir, Chalerm, Suthep, PAD members, Yingluck, etc etc etc)...

 

... then you should probably wear a helmet 24/7 for your own safety and protection.

Looks like you don't know anything, particularly regarding the difference between junta propaganda and facts.

In this instance, Thaksin's conviction was a ridiculous miscarriage of justice carried out for ulterior motives.

The election is a complete farce. Section 44 and the elite group have devastated anything decent in their way while the chopping and butchering of the constitution has done the rest. So you tell me, why even have a farce of an election?

The junta's conflagulation of what is supposed to be a democratic electoral process just continues on and on. 

 

All the existing EC members have been held to be unqualified to continuing to hold their positions in accordance with the constitution and the NLA. It is only by an unconstitutional exemption granted by the NLA that the constitution was waivered so that they are allowed to hold their positions until replaced by NLA qualified appointees.

 

So where does Somchai have right to judge who "guides" a political party or even decide what constitutes "guidance?" Maybe I missed it but when did the Prayut government or the EC have the authority to decide who can be a consultant or advisor to a party board member without being a registered party member? Somchai's warning is further hypocritical when the same EC stood by and tolerated the junta's cancellation of a legally endorsed election in May 2014 and delayed elections for almost four years. If there was ever an appropriate application to "outsiders" it would be the Thai military that operates outside the bounds of the constitution and Thai laws. 

 

Then we turn to pro-Prayut and former pro-junta activists such as DPM Somkid who are actively coordinating with development of political parties without being party board members that would pledge loyalty to Prayut as a PM candidate. Is this not providing banned political guidance?

 

Finally, the idea that "outsiders" that appears to be defined as simply living outside Thailand are automatically banned from giving guidance to a political party seems ludicrous when those "outsiders" are Thai citizens. Are not Thai citizens allowed the freedom of association that is not necessarily defined by a formal relationship (ie., paid member of a political party)? What business is it of the government on who and how a political party is guided? We're not talking about illegal foreign financing (albeit Thaksin and Yingluck are not foreigners) nor eligibility to vote (probably disqualifies Thaksin and Yingluck from being party members). Adjunct to freedom of expression is the freedom to listen, ie., in this case by Thai citizens living in Thailand who are by ANY definition "insiders."

Well maybe a list for 'truly serves the interests of its citizens' - bottom of the ranking already filled by the shins.

He also tried to bribe the judges with the "pastry box" for which one of his lawyers was convicted and and served time. 

 

Then there's the small matter of the Krungthai Bank fraud, where other key players have been convicted and given a lengthy jail sentence. 

 

And the issue of lending tax payer's money to the Burmese Junta at preferential interest rates so that they could buy telecoms from his family business.

 

And the list goes on.

 

But of course, some TVF posters want to sweep it all under the carpet by claiming it as "political". After all that's just what Thaksin says, and he also says he and his sweet little sister have never ever done anything wrong. And he wouldn't lie now would he
