PHUKET:-- The crackdown on foreigners fraudulently using student visas as a way to stay in the country long term began in Phuket yesterday (May 3), with inspections of three language schools in the south of the island.

The campaign began at 1pm with officers conducting inspections of the TTT Language School near Chalong Pier, the LinguaPlus Language School just south of Chalong Circle and the Phuket Rawai Language School in Baan Bangkontee, Rawai.

Capt Ekkachai Siri of the Phuket Tourist Police confirmed to The Phuket News today that no irregularities were discovered at any of the three language schools.

As I read elsewhere, the places that should be scrutinized are the martial arts training schools.

In recent years these places have exploded in numbers and must sponsor thousands of visa holders, no doubt some of the dodgy variety.

I read somewhere that only boxing schools that have been registered with the gov as bonafide will give visas for students...

We'll see what transpires if they decide to delve into that pot, poty

Same for language schools, only when they have been registered can a visa be issued (not by the school as you mention of course).

They checked the attendance records of the students.

Of course there is no way that these could have been doctored :wink:

[email protected] wonder how many so called Tourists came into the country in the past 36 months and how many of them did not exit according to Immigration records? ?

Only then we can have fun chat and discussion or debate ??
