PHUKET:-- The trial of German national Nico Papke for the murder of his Thai girlfriend in Phuket last year began on Monday (April 30), with the Phuket Prosecutor moving ahead with the charge of murder under Section 288 of the Thai Criminal Code.

If found guilty, Papke faces 15 to 20 years imprisonment, or the death penalty*.

Papke, who worked as a fitness instructor in Rawai, initially confessed to killing his girlfriend Pischa “Lek” Nampadung, a 35-year-old beautician at a salon in Rawai.

The russian denied all allegations and is likely awaiting trial in custody.

The Yank was roaming free the very next day and from what I gather he has got off on self defence so no charges pending I think.

News continuation is pretty bad even the way it is presented when it is followed up is sometimes hard to follow.

any idea as to what happened about the other two cases, one where the Russian guy stole from the money exchange, and the other one where the USA guy killed the Aussie in the bar, this site pretty good with sensational headlines, then,, NOTHING after wards, anybody ??

Don´t worry, and don´t hurry! We got the "Guy in the Freezer" sorted after 2-3 years.

Just wait and see. :cheesy:

Not defending this pos, but I don't believe the killing was premeditated (Evidence later presented in court could change this opinion).

I don't blame him for changing his plea when they decided to charge him under S.288 not S.290.

The yank being free the day after has been repeatedly discredited.

It is popular with those who get their jollies maligning thai police, society and institutions due to their terminal depression and disrespect for a country that has permitted them to live in it.

If there are no follow-up reports to initial news stories how do you expect Thaivisa to continue reporting them?  Thaivisa is just an aggregator that re-publishes other sources' news, it does not produce it's own news reports, allegedly.

Not just this site, even the other news outlets very very seldom ever follow up on these stories. Then even the reporting half the time is incorrect.

But it does happen. Check out the case of Alex Milbourn and friends who, a number of years ago in Pattaya were caught after towing several ATM's out of their locations with a pick up truck.  Not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree! Nevertheless, do a web search and you will find a lot of similar news sources covering the gang's capture and them admitting the crime but what you will not find is any coverage of a subsequent trial.

That's because there was no trial. Apparently Milbourn's father had money - need I say more?

He was certainly free a couple of years ago and still living in Pattaya - scamming customers out of their deposits in a car rental business. He has now apparently hot footed it back to the UK amidst talk of a property scam and forged signatures on a land transfer document.  Had be been convicted and punished of the ATM crime he would have been deported and therefore not free to commit more crime.
