Socialist Britain will not be 'ripped off any more' under Labour: McDonnell

The socialists always say this about every failed socialist state. Of course, it would be different if they were in charge. (NOT)

Socialist governments are the scourge of the working man.Its leaders pass laws that allow the non producing  freeloaders to reap benefits that is paid for those that are working to better themselves, The laws taxing the workers in order to support the freeloaders does not effect those government leaders that pass them. The "Labor" party need to keep supporting the freeloaders so they  will VOTE for them while falsely stating "FOR THE WORKING MAN."

We have a Tory party now that is propped up by terrorist sypmathisers; only last week the PM appointed a former paramilitary to the lords - but he is the right flavour of terrorist, apparently.

Uh - Huh

Irony at its finest.

I am not sure why you are struggling to follow the narrative of the thread, but go back only 1 post, the one I was responding to, where Baerboxes was criticising Labour because of their reported links to terrorists. My response, wholly on topic, was to suggest that this was not a situation limited to Labour.

But you seem somewhat confused about the core topic of this thread - it is not restricted to saying nice things about the Tories and bad things about Labour; it is about the future of the UK as a whole. Your attempt to smear Sturgeon was a deflection as she does not have a national mandate in the UK. Please keep up.

Baerboxer and I clashed a little earlier, but he has a point - there is no alternative being offered to what we have now. If you think about it - the freeloaders, as you put it, are already not paying taxes, but they are not those on the dole, they are those who contribute to the Tory party, represent it in the houses of parliament or own the newspapers that keep us compliant with a daily diet of trash and lies.

I have never lived in a socialist country, and certainly the likes of Cuba or Venezuela doesn't make me want to move towards that model, but we desperately need to change direction. Socialism may be bad, but we have something equally as abhorrent and evil in its place now.

Socialists buy popularity for themselves with other peoples money they confiscated. Never hear about them offering to pay more tax themselves so they can do more good work. Why don't we see multimillionaire Blair coming out of his house every morning and throwing money to the less fortunate.

Corbyn and Co are throwbacks to a time long before Blair.

The largest numbers of freeloaders are all the single moms living on benefits.

The most expensive freeloaders are the big corporations that pay no tax.

Everyone else has to pay for these two groups.

It's hard to see a way out, as both are supported by the main parties.

One definite innovation would be to send the single mums to work in Pattaya. This might solve your 'hard to see a way out' problem.

Yes - the building might be on fire, but we heard a rumour that the escape ladder is a bit rickety so we will stay where we are and take our chances, thank you very much.

I think you might mean Blackpool, competition in Pattaya is a bit too fierce for Brit 'ladies'.

But joking aside.

When 1/2 the population will vote for the party offering best child benefits, the race to the bottom is on.

I've never had the choice of having 2 babies then a free ride for the rest of my life on 20KGBP plus/year, but if offered I would have probably taken it.

It isn't just the UK, the whole western world is facing the same problem, where 1/2 the population have a free choice to never work, but still be paid a good wage.

Something fundamental has to change in how we govern the UK. Socialism may be bad, but what we have now is truly evil. The completely unnecessary indignities that many face on a daily basis are just the tip of the iceberg. People are dying every day because of austerity, while the rich friends and donors of the Tory party continue to quaff their champagne, snort their cocaine and offshore their money like it's the 1980s all over again.

The UK has become more crap, more run down, more feral by the day - and all because of Tory ideology. And all we hear is that the left is bad? What will it take for you people to wake up?

That is the statist's default position: more government to fix government because of too much government in the first place. ie throwing gasoline (petrol) on a fire

Single parents today - UK

  • There are around two million single parents – they make up nearly a quarter of families with dependent children (i
  • Less than two per cent of single parents are teenagers
  • 68 per cent of single parents are in work
  • The majority of single parents don’t receive child maintenance payments
  • 47 per cent of children in single parent families live in relative poverty, around twice the risk of relative poverty faced by children in couple families (24 per cent).

Your mistake (completely understandable) is not knowing what 'in work' means

'in work' = selling junk on ebay, no need to make any profit, or 'making candles' and selling at car boot sales for a nominal 16hrs/week.

There are no checks, I know, I played this game for a while, easy money, getting in the 68% 'in work' category.

You just need 2 children under age 19 to make it work.

(Child tax credit + child benefit + housing benefit + no council tax = 20KGBP+ with no deductions)

Tony Blair started this game in 2001, (I gave up work to play it), Cameron continued it.

Would you be happy to live on the meagre benefits payable?  Somehow, I suspect that like myself, you would not.

I've never had children, and have slightly started to resent the fact that most of the tax I pay goes towards people with children.  Purely because those with children seem to continually complain about the unemployed - ignoring the fact that they are major beneficiaries from the tax system....

As I previously stated, I did .......... I didn't feel 20KGBP/year tax free with no deductions to be meager.

Lived in a 500k house (fully paid), had 150k cash in the bank, but only an income between 2k-5k per year. We were classed as a 'low income family' 'in work' entitled to everything (as long as I pretended to work 16hr/week).

Lived that way from 2001 until 2009, when my wife realized she could have the same money all for herself and the two kids without me.

She's been living on that 20K/year from 2009 and still is, she'll have a small problem in 2020 when the kids are 19 and the free money goes away.

I love Tony Blair!

He paid for me to have an eight year holiday.

With Labour almost neck-and-neck in the polls with the governing Conservatives, who lost their majority in last year's election, its leader Jeremy Corbyn and others are setting out their stall ahead of a new election not due until 2022.

Or maybe not.... Rumblings that with May still getting nowhere trying to both sides to agree, she might well face a leadership challenge in the Autumn.  Whether this results in a snap election remains to be seen. The split is still unsurmountable and there is no way that the PM can produce a solution.  Anyone still thinking that Brexit is straightforward needs to wake up to the reality.  It is hideously divisive and destructive.

It there was an election then I doubt that Labour could sway enough people to actually win.  They are too divided and with Abbot still in position....well.

If there was a leadership challenge then that could be interesting.  I imagine both sides of Brexit would pitch a candidate and then we would really see which side has the most support.

The more important point is that voters are becoming aware of the lies told by both sides ?.

Yes indeed although it is too late for the voters to do anything about that!  Whichever side you are on.
