I had a pretty bad case of sore throat, cough, blocked nose, headache that lasted about a month. Apart from some useless anti-biotics from the hospital, the best medicine was good old Tiffy Dey. Now that I'm better, I still find a nightly dose of 2x Tiffys helps me sleep.

Is there any harm in taking 2 nightly Tiffys - 1,000 mg of paracetamol, 20mg of phenylephrine, 4mg of chlorpheniramine maleate ?

It's normally not recommended to take more than 4g (4000mg) of paracetamol in 24 hours. The lethal dose for paracetamol for adults is about 10g-24g (10,000 - 24,000 mg), so you're well below that.
However, paracetamol can put a strain on your liver (especially if you drink), where it's broken down and metabolised, so I personally wouldn't take it if it could be avoided.
It's likely the phenylephrine and or chlorpheniramine is producing the drowsiness.

It is always best not to take unnecessary medication. It is not the oaracetemol that is helping you sleeo, it is the antihistamine. So if you need that take only the chlorpheniramine.

Paracetemol especially if taken long term can be hard on both kidneys and liver.

Actually for myself a 500mg paracetamol before bed can help me sleep (whereas Melatonin does nothing) as it helps to relieve the body aches and pains that prevent or cause sleep interruptions.  I do not take every night but probably average 2-3 times a week now that in my 75th year.  Do not believe this amount would cause much adverse reactions at this point and regular tests seem to confirm.  Would not recommend as a sleeping pill but if pain factors are preventing sleep believe it can be useful.

Agree chlorpheniramine does have a sleep effect but when I have taken in the past for allergy/cold that effect seemed to diminish with use.
