Crime buster Surachet "Big Joke" Hakpal of the Tourist Police is going after a Cambodian man for spreading fake news about Thai prime minister Prayut.

Prayut is known as Big Too in the Thai media.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Ratana Heng after his Ratstas.com site published a story with the headline:

"Big Too blows a gasket - tells people to fill up with water not diesel".

The story claimed that the PM had told the public in a rage that they should use plain water rather than diesel if that was too expensive.

Maj Gen Surachet - famous for his multi-faceted crime busts lately - said that Ratana had attacked the prime minister repeatedly on a number of his sites.

He comes and goes in Thailand through Aranyaprathet in Sa Kaew province and owns a printing house in Cambodia.

He is wanted for damaging Thailand by spreading fake news and faces 5 years jail and/or a fine of 100,000 baht.

Thai police are in touch with their Cambodian counterparts.

In the meantime while they search for Ratana, Surachet said that the Thai police have arrested six people for sharing the news.

The people said they were only sharing what they thought was interesting news about the recent fuel price hikes but they, too, face charges of damaging the country through spreading fake news.

Yeah, right! Have to start all the BJ jokes now.

When BJ catches an illegal foreigner he sends him back home the day before he left his home country.

It´s the double edged sword. He should be a help for tourists, at the same time his profession is namned police which stands for catching criminals as far as I now.

As I see it, he is a big help for the whole country at the same time as he is super environmentally friendly. He takes out the trash!

i always thought TOURIST POLICE  were (pretend ) policemen, so why cant the PROPER police do their job, they seem to like touring round Jomtien in their police car with their lights flashing trying to look important.

Funny though !!....the Tourist Police was initially created by a groupe of good people in power, to assist tourists and farangs visiting or living in the kingdom.

Yes...yes...of course, good people in, bad ones out..etc.

Guess times and society have changed ? sigh !!
