More football betting arrests in lead up to World Cup

Eight people were arrested yesterday following a raid on a three story premises in Bangkok being used as the HQ for online football betting.

 

Pol Maj Gen Panurat Lakbun leading the raid said that the operation had a turnover of 500,000 baht daily and profits from the last eight months of operation were 120 million baht.

 

Those arrested were staff running various websites with the names FIFA55, FIFATH, FIFAPLAYS and FIFAGOAL, reported Daily News.

 

Computer equipment and monitors were seized in the raid at the Gusto Grand Townhome in Ramkhamhaeng on Sunday.

 

The FIFA World Cup begins next week Thursday, June 14th when hosts Russia take on Saudi Arabia.
