A teenage passenger was killed when a truck collided with the rear of another truck on a Bangkok ring road early Tuesday.

The driver of the first truck, Wasant Pisawong, 23, has been charged with reckless driving causing death.

The accident happened at 2.45am on Kanchanapisek Road in Bangkok's Khannayao district.

Police said a six-wheel cold storage truck delivering pork, hit the rear of a 10-wheel truck carrying prefabricated concrete walls driven by Paibool Khamphol, 45.

Wasant's passenger, Theerasak Chotechai, 17, was trapped in the front passenger seat after the accident. He died shortly after being freed from the vehicle.

Wasant told police that he was delivering 4 tonnes of pork form Lop Buri to the Wellgrow Industrial Estate.

He said he was driving fast when he changed lanes to exit the ring road and could not stop in time to avoid colliding with the rear of the 10-wheel truck.

Police charged him with reckless driving causing death.
