RATCHABURI, 12th June 2018 (NNT)-Ratchaburi Governor Chayawut Chantorn has met with officials of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to discuss the possibility of building a container yard in Ratchaburi to service the future Nakhon Pathom-Hua Hin dual-track railway.

Chaywut said the construction of the container yard at Nong Pla Duk Train Station was an idea proposed by a member of the private sector in the Lower Central Provinces Region 1 due to its location. Ratchaburi is surrounded by many provinces including Kanchanaburi, Suphanburi, Nakhon Pathom and Samut Songkhram where a private seaport is expected to be built.

With the proposed container yard, commodity containers from provinces within the vicinity of Ratchaburi could be easily transported to the sea port and other regions in Thailand. The construction proposal will be submitted to the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning for further deliberation.
