Cost of Building a Garage

Featured Replies

I've been looking through the Forum to see if I can find relevant costs of building a 7mx5m garage but  unable to find anything.  Build with blocks and sloping metal sheeting roof.    Not sure whether cement from CPAC of mixed on site is more cost effective

Grateful for advice from anyone who has done this.

Thank you

You need to have a sketch or drawing and the position of the proposed garage from the road/house,

The Block size chosen then makes it easy to work out price from the sq metre area.

Single slope profile metal roof sheet easy to find costs too.

The sq.m area size of the concrete area wanted.

Working on av height 4m rear, 3m front:

3 x 5m x 6" posts (B80/sok)

1 sok = 0.5m

Cost = B2,400

3 x 4m posts

Cost = B2,160

Block, around 970 needed for rear wall plus 2 sides B4.5 ea

Cost = B4,374

20 bags cement @ B120 ea

Cost = B2,400

Sand say 10m3 @ B145/m3

Cost = B1,450

Wire mesh around B320 for 35m2

Concrete Floor 100mm thick = 3.5m3 @B1700/m3

Cost = B5,950 (CPAC)

Post purlins and rafters 4" x 2" galv grade A box section 6 x 6m lengths @B550 ea

Cost = B3,300

Roof purlins 3" x 1 1/2" galv grade A C section 4 x 6m lengths @ B360 eaea

Cost = B1,440

Roof sheet 0.35mm supplied at 6.5m lenghts (assume width 5m plus 1.5m overhang) B65/m

Roof sheet each length covers 0.76m when overlapped so for 7m you'll need 10 x 6.5m lengths

Cost = B4,225

Labour 3 x 10 days at B500/day ea

Cost = B15,000

Total = B43,016

I always add +20% to any budget for the 'f' factor so around B53,000

I worked out that for anything over a 3m3 pour it is just as cost effective to get a truck load although your builders will want to do it by hand.

Hope this helps.

I think your detailed quote is a bit off, this is my garage built last year, including things like a electric plugs inside and out, exit door, gutters and a push button electric automatic rolling door:  size 6m wide x 7 meter deep, at the lowest point 2.5m high

(OR I PAID TOO MUCH)....LOL13041.jpg.10fb661faedf1cb96aa95cdf29a8dc87.jpg13043.jpg.7c967d525992c467d7c997feeaa35134.jpg

1. push button electric rolling door:                 60,000b

2. electric plugs, inside lighting & wiring          6,500b

3. building itself and material                         128,500b

total:                                                                    195,000B

very nice and detailed post. I would only add that prices are location related. I recently paid 1950 baht per m3 of CPAC concrete.

I recently had a small storage room built 7 m x 3 m, 2.7 m high sloping to 2.3 m. Specs similar to what you want. Cost was 3000 thb/m2 including electrics. It was attached to a fence that I had built at the same time. Nothing fancy, 1 double width door and 1 window. Floor slab was pored using delivered premix..  Hope this helps.
