And have you taught your wives to stop using a lot of these crap sauces and sodium $hit that all Thai use ? Or did you agree to die as quickly as most Thai who have no idea about healthy food and nutrition ?

Well done, one is completely blessed if ones wife loves to cook, and cook from the heart as mine does, not only does she cook Thai, but she also cooks, European foods, like Italian, Greek, etc, etc, which I die for when I have had enough Thai.

That old saying that "the way to a man's heart, is through his stomach" does have a lot of truth to it.

:)

Reverse here.. my wife is blessed that I cook European food, like Italian, German, Dutch, and also Thai

It should be a new saying that "the way to Thai woman hearts, are through their stomachs"

Ok Ok lets change that to "the way to a loved one's heart, is through their stomachs" after all we don't want to be accused of being a sexist, but then again I don't think that would happen here for another 50 years.....eat up !

Why assume the wife needs this knowledge unless she does all the cooking. And don't American and Australian people need the same advice?

Right...cuz Western obesity diets are far superior!

From the token vegan here :

While your ill-mannered comment contains a level of obtrusive accuracy, perhaps the better approach would be to offer up some home cooked healthy alternatives w/pix! Otherwise take your trolling elsewhere.

And yes...BTW...have taught my GF to do her incredible cooking healthier with less oil & sodium and NO MSG.

I love Thai food.  My doctor put me on a restricted diet for life.  All the many restrictions make up almost all of what makes up Thai food, especially street food.  My wife is THE best Thai food cook and I miss it so much.  Please enjoy the delights for me.  All the dishes shown on this post looked so delicious.

You should be able to modify at least some Thai recipes to make them healthy.. using good oils.. reducing salt.. and very salty sauces.. I try to do this as much as I can.. substitute cows milk for coconut milk or cream.. works ok.. stir fry veg with cashew nuts is good if you want to restrict pork and chicken consumption.. small amounts of chili and curry spices shouldn't hurt..

Nobody has to restrict chicken, no reason at all, but nobody should eat pork, the dirtiest meat available anywhere.

And yes, it's easy to cook healthy Thai food, but do not ask a Thai who knows nothing (99.99% of them) to cook it for you.

My restrictions limits are zero.  Thanks for your suggestions but I want the hearing in my left ear back to normal.  I want a life with no severe tinnitus and vertigo.  I don't  want to hear loud or low frequency noises painfully bouncing in my head.  I want to stop taking medication and stop wearing an earplug.  It's a complex treatment of restricted diet and medication.  It's stick to my restrictions 100 % for me and I don't want the disease to affect my right ear as well.

That last paragraph is one reason why I don't eat Thai food anymore.  My wife has tried making Thai food with my restrictions but it just does not have that Thai food taste. My doctor OK'd all meats, Thai chilis, but no curry.

for folks that have a sodium problem simply cutting out the fish sauce/naam pla in thai food is a big improvement...

but what would thai food be without fish sauce?...I have high BP but I keep a small bottle on hand for those times when ye can't do without, mostly used as a component in a dressing for salads and not an integral preparation ingredient...

Between the dose that Thai use and a dose that someone smart can use, there is a big difference.

Fish sauce is ok but not the Thai way.

Easy, no Thai food.

Delicious! :vampire:

Sorry Tutsi, couldn't resist! But as the resident vegan just cannot abide fish anything. Never could. I just cut copious amounts of chilies and put in a bit of soy sauce as substitute for fish sauce. Recently have just left out the soy sauce altogether.

That looks really good.  Wish I could eat curry sauce again.  My wife makes THE best penang gai but it's off my list as well.  I always looked forward to that once a week delight.  She cooks it with big chunks of pineapple that just burst in your mouth.
