Shop house cess pit ?

Featured Replies

Is it normal for Thai shop houses to have some kind of cess pit built under them that need periodic emptying  what would be any alternative sewage disposal design ? Thanks.

I understand as they will build them from from the back boundry out

I seen this episode once in a Pharmacy - As I got there they were emptying the Septic with the suction pipe running through the shop

I reckon they should put them at the front of shop if they own a bit at the front & get them emptied at night

"normal", "This is how we do it in the village", "This is how Thai builders do it", are all a recipe for trouble, when it comes to septic tanks. Cement rings are not a proper septic tank. Any intelligent builder, intelligent draftsman, and every decent builders merchants store will understand proper black or grey septic tanks. Getting the Thai builder to ONLY run the waste pipe from a toilet or urinal to the septic tank is a slight challenge. Following the written instructions in Thai with photos on the instruction book of DOS or SAFE or COTTO is another challenge. In 10 years never once have I had to have a septic tank pumped in Thailand. Slope of the waste pipe that is yet another challenge worth winning. If the OP is building a shop house I urge him to pick up the printed instructions which has photos or drawings from any reputable builders merchants store in Thailand for any reputable brand of septic tank.

If the shop was built years ago mainly the answer is yes.
