BANGKOK, 0th July 2018 (NNT) - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) plans to promote Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai province as a key attraction, once all the 12 boys and their football coach are brought out of the cave to safety.

The Tourism and Sports Minister, Weerasak Kowsurat, said the TAT will work with the private sector and local authorities to promote the cave and other attractive venues nearby, as the tourism sector anticipates that the area will attract many more tourists in the future.

He said the rescue operation of the 13 survivors has become of interest for both local and foreign travelers.

He went on to say that people may want more travel and activity information before visiting the site, and the TAT is ready to work out a route to the cave and other destinations in Chiang Rai.

hey, they could offer "Cave Excite Tours"  especially during the rainy season, when the visitors can expect the utmost thrill

(irony mode into OFF again)

actually it's like scorecard mentioned . . . . the proposal sounds very cynical in the wake of the not yet rescued trapped youngsters and their parents . . . .let's wait until everything has resolved into success & happiness

Pathetic and inappropriate but TIT

A dutch reporter told he had to sign the reporterlist to find out that he was reporter 844 at the cave.....

So it was already a tourist attraction for reporters.

Yet another way to try and generate funds from the blight of others. SICK!

I thought tiourism is booming, economy buoyant! Or are they?

Could the deaths plus missing Chinese tourists be considered a tourist attraction too?!

TIT, where money is more important than life...

Paradise... Cough Cough...

They just couldn´t wait and show some respect and dignity.

Of course, they could promote cave diving lessons for footballers - with brand ambassador Neymar.

In Phuket, they could offer the ultimate shrimp buffet for chinese tourists - no make that the ultimate chinese tourist buffet for shrimp.

Weerasak you dipstick, there are more important things than money.

More important things than you getting some press coverage.

After the rescue it's just a cave maybe of interest to cavers, you won't get me in there.

No doubt package tourists will get dragged along wether they want to or not.

This guy needs to resign.

Damn!!!

Bet next they will stage some accident somewhere else in order to make it a tourist attraction. While they are at it why don't they plan a movie... they have all the ingredients they need...

Can't believe it... tourist attraction...

Yes, he sure does need to resign. But he won't - because he is surrounded and supported by even worse moral monsters (aka SCUM) than himself (I need not spell out the names ...).

Weerasak should be resigning; at least it might stop him embarrassing himself further.

What next? Promotion of a unique diving experience on a wreck between Phuket and Raya?

LOL - Unfortunately, it's not possible to give more than one like for that comment.

And to think this same group could have rescued the kids on their own. Credit is due for them actually admitting they were in over their heads and seeking outside assistance. If you fire this moron than the PM should go too because he came up with the idea a few days ago in a press briefing.

I am speechless.  Not all are safe, and he wants to make an attraction of a very dangerous place which will no doubt have dual pricing of course.  Barbarians.  And they wonder why their neighbors hate them.

You can always rely on TAT to introduce some banal surrealism to any situation...

Don't forget Phuket, a special drive with the killer boats...

It is truly incredible that nobody at TAT had a thought that maybe it might not be appropriate release a story like this. Or, if they did they were far too scared to suggest the idea to the older and far superior people above them.

It's a one-way pipeline. They get a thought and goes on air. No analysis, no contemplation. Just mindless babble. Not unique here, listen to the tweeting fool from my country.

Great idea. Now that his career on the high seas is finished, maybe that Phuket boat captain can lead the cave tour groups.

Pokémon go - cave adventure!

Oh hang on, that was the previous minister...

"The Lost Boys" cave, entrance fee Farangs 400 Thb, Thais 20Thb,

Unfortunately there will be those who want to go further and deeper than the school kids did for whatever reason.

People die in Scotland every year trying to get to the top of Ben Nevis while dressed in jeans and T shirts.

Don't write off the fact that some idiots will try similar in the cave.
