Any recommendations; skilled, professional Chiang Ma Visa Agency, specifically for retirement Visa. Sort of a unique set of problems I would like advice on, run it by one of the people there. I will pay for the consultation. Would rather do it that way than get on a road to nowhere.

OS gets some good reviews. Tian is the highest priced. Star Visa, Chiang Mai Buddy. One person gave Assist Thai a less the positive review. Pics and pans I am all ears and thanks in advance

For the DIY crowd, please put down the rocks.  I agree with you but in this case not possible.

Thanks Again

OS has given good service to me and friends for some years. Their staff are well trained and speak good English. They get my vote.

Thanks for all your comments  - I'll try OS first. Really looking to get a feel if something can be done. And will pay for the information and or their time. Oh, and give them my business if we can fly with it.

I'll walk to the Visa office, that is not the issue.

Thanks ALL

I used OS last year, they told me that I could get a retirement visa using my savings, I had a letter from the British Embassy stating my savings, OS came back to me to say that immigration would not accept the letter as it stated savings and not income. I then had to pay for another letter from the British Embassy saying that I also had the required income.

They then kept my passport and application form, they rang me a week later stating that I had to get a letter from my Thai bank showing the amount of money I had, I went to the bank who stated they needed my passport to produce the letter. I went to OS office and asked them why they had not told me I had to show my passport to the bank, they seemed to think it was funny, gave me my passport and asked me to go back to the bank for the letter, return it and the passport to them and then stated they would meet me at a certain place and time in Promenada. They turned up 30 minutes later at a different meeting point.

I certainly won't be using them again.

OS have always driven me to and from their office to Imm.  I have never had a problem with them.

Regards savings/income.  I think it is a bit obvious that the bank certifies your savings and the Embassy your income.  I suspect a bit of misunderstanding on your part and not OS.  My bank never asks for my passport for the letter etc, all they ask for is my Pass book which they update at that time and give me the letter.

I use Assist Thai Visa, no complaints but a tad expensive for the work they do. You are expected to have all your ducks in a row regarding paperwork, e.g. income letter, bank letter, condo letter etc. They won't do it for you.

No misunderstanding at all on my part, the bank letter that I needed was to confirm my savings with them, they required my passbook, which I had on me, and my passport which was at the OS office. The bank charged me 100 baht for the letter.

As I live in Saraphi, there was no point going all the way to Niman for a lift when it takes me 10 minutes to get to Promenada.

Apologies, the savings that I wanted to use for the visa were in my UK bank account. I specifically asked if this is OK to use, which OS told me it was and obviously the British Embassy verified the amount stating it was savings in a UK account. Immigration would not accept it.

Savings MUST be in Thailand for 2 or 3 months before application depending on whether first or renewal and in an accessible account.  UK savings are meaningless.  NO visa company could get that wrong!

Did you actually tell the "UK Embassy" what the "certificate" was for or ask if it was suitable for your extension of stay based on retirement.

Or did you just arrive in Thailand with no knowledge of the financial requirements to "retire" here and now blame others for your lack of foresight?

Does either your first post on this topic or it's reply help the OP in any way?

What are "Fon's" services and your recommendations as to the OP's requirements?

It was/is your lack of clarity which caused me to make my "jocular" response of "what for".

Where is OS, and how much do they charge for a retirement extension?

Based on my DIY experience last week, about 2000 baht per hour or more.

She runs the visa agency there, which could possibly help the OP.

If you just want advice they charge 1500baht for the session.  (it is that long ago that I cannot remember if they deduct that fee off the bill if you use their services as they recommended during the advice session)  There is no advice fee if you know what you want and ask them if they can do it.   They will then charge you the Immigration (or whatever department) fee for each service plus their "mark up/commission".  Without knowing your complications (as they state) they/I cannot quote a price until they know your circumstances and exactly what work is involved for them.

No, OS told me the certificate was suitable, they even presented it to immigration.

I've been here 8 years and always had a multi entry Non O. I'd been told by friends that if I wanted an extension using my savings in the UK to go to a Visa Agent, as it's not what I know, it's who the agent knows!!

I have the horrible feeling that you are just bashing either this specific company or all agents in General.

No one else on this forum has yet reported any experience of anything like the one(s) you are alleging.

You said;

"I'd been told by friends that if I wanted an extension in the UK to go to a Visa Agent, as it's not what I know, it's who the agent knows!!"

This implies that you KNEW the money had to be in Thailand and that you were trying to circumvent Thai Immigration laws.

That specific agent would never condone such illegal activities.

Don't now try and blame others for your attempts at a criminal act which failed!

Listen, pass this topic to your avatar, it'll understand it better than you.

Just in case you're hard of hearing or reading, I'll type this    S   L   O   W   L   Y

Don't misquote me, I didn't say I wanted an extension in the UK.

I specifically went to the agent, up front and honest, saying that I wanted either a marriage or  retirement extension, my savings were in the UK, I had some money in a Thai account, They said a marriage extension was more difficult to get so I opted for the retirement one. It was them that said I needed a letter confirming my UK savings from the British Embassy. It was also them that presented it to  immigration.

Are you so naive that you don't think agents get around the rules that we can't. Search the internet for thai retirement visa's without funds, they're all over Thailand.

Again, OS VISA TOLD ME IT WASN'T A PROBLEM USING MY UK SAVINGS, otherwise I would have just applied for another Multi Non O Visa

This is your quote.  This implies you knew the rules and tried to circumvent them and are now playing loose and free with the truth!

So you admit you are looking to circumvent the rules.  I have never had any requirement to do such a search and never will.

I still state that that company would NEVER do as you suggest.  Please provide the date(s) of your alleged conversation(s) and I will  have a quiet word with the Thai owner and her Australian husband.

PS;  A copy of your receipt would help prove your allegation(s)

That is your own quote you are making back at yourself.  The "You said" above is you  NOT me!!!

I was not able to use the "quote" function at the time of posting so I suggest you read your own quotes in the full context of there placement in the posts above very slowly (notice no big capital letters with big spacing!) before trying to make such inaccurate posts.

Why the hell would I give YOU, who the hell do YOU think you are, details. Pom already knows of my dissatisfaction.

I'll reiterate it once more. They said a letter from the embassy would be suffice, they presented it to immigration. Otherwise I would have just applied for another Non O Visa.

I suggest you look at your own posting #23. You seem to be tired.

This was the quote I made
