What for?

The clue is in the Topic heading, you're not the brightest, as Del Boy would say "What a plonker"

Rant on your friends for the clearly bad information. They got you started down this rather absurd path.

Bloody hell, is there an echo.

Read the posts or is that too difficult for you.

I merely told the op of my experience with the visa agent. Again, the agent told me that my UK savings were acceptable and they submitted the paper from the Embassy, would they go to immigration with that letter knowing it would be kicked back?

NO!

Which is why I do not believe a word you have printed about the alleged actions of THAT agency.

PS; I assume you are not a member of the diplomatic corps given the tone of some of your replies to Bill97 and myself!

OS have always driven me to and from their office to Imm.  I have never had a problem with them.

Regards savings/income.  I think it is a bit obvious that the bank certifies your savings and the Embassy your income.  I suspect a bit of misunderstanding on your part and not OS.  My bank never asks for my passport for the letter etc, all they ask for is my Pass book which they update at that time and give me the letter.

I believe the letter states the Passport number, I showed them my driving licence but was not acceptable.

No misunderstanding at all on my part, the bank letter that I needed was to confirm my savings with them, they required my passbook, which I had on me, and my passport which was at the OS office. The bank charged me 100 baht for the letter.

As I live in Saraphi, there was no point going all the way to Niman for a lift when it takes me 10 minutes to get to Promenada.

Apologies, the savings that I wanted to use for the visa were in my UK bank account. I specifically asked if this is OK to use, which OS told me it was and obviously the British Embassy verified the amount stating it was savings in a UK account. Immigration would not accept it.

The last paragraph was courteous.

Did you actually tell the "UK Embassy" what the "certificate" was for or ask if it was suitable for your extension of stay based on retirement.

Or did you just arrive in Thailand with no knowledge of the financial requirements to "retire" here and now blame others for your lack of foresight?

You state that I'm passing the buck

I have the horrible feeling that you are just bashing either this specific company or all agents in General.

No one else on this forum has yet reported any experience of anything like the one(s) you are alleging.

You said;

"I'd been told by friends that if I wanted an extension in the UK to go to a Visa Agent, as it's not what I know, it's who the agent knows!!"

This implies that you KNEW the money had to be in Thailand and that you were trying to circumvent Thai Immigration laws.

That specific agent would never condone such illegal activities.

Don't now try and blame others for your attempts at a criminal act which failed!

You imply that I'm trying to do things illegally.

This is your quote.  This implies you knew the rules and tried to circumvent them and are now playing loose and free with the truth!

You imply that I'm trying to do things illegally and a liar.

You call me a liar.

You now wonder why my replies to you are curt!!!

A Thai DL has your passport number on the back!  Try another excuse for your failure.

Your long winded post above is just a reprint of the previous pointless posts with no apparent facts,  just allegations.

You claim to have lived here for a number of years and yet YOU do not know the basics of obtaining an extension of stay based on either retirement or marriage. You take wrong advice from your friends, imply you are willing to break the law and make unsubstantiated allegations against a visa agency because of your ineptitude and then give rude responses when challenged.

No wonder I do not believe you.

Duh, I know that, that's why I mentioned it, they still wanted my passport.

By the way, the passport number is on the front of your licence, the address is on the back!  You can't get simple thing right!

Your second paragraph is spot on,  5 quotes from YOU

It's on the back of mine!! (things change over the years.)

Just nit-picking and NOT answering any questions but only posting waffle shows just how shallow your whole string of posts are.  There is no point in you responding, unless you are going to answer the points made above and have something positive to add as you have ZERO credibility on this subject.

As I've had a licence for 8 years in total, 1 for two years and two for 5 years, my passport number has always been on the front.

I suggest it's YOU that has zero credibility!

Bring back your credibility, show a copy of your licence, by all means black out part of you passport number and address.
