rooster59
Hour long power cut causes chaos at Bangkok shopping mall Image: Sanook An hour long power cut at a Bangkok shopping mall caused widespread disruption for shoppers and movie goers on Saturday. Sanook reported that people were trapped in lifts during the outage which plunged the movie theatre, parking lot and food hall into darkness from approximately 3.30pm. Sanook didn’t report the name of the mall but people posting to social media said the power cut occured at Siam Paragon. Footage shared to social media showed a movie theatre at the mall in complete darkness. The Metropolitan Electricity Authority said the outage was caused by a faulty transmitter, which knocked out power along the Rama 4 road and throughout the Pathumwan district. Power was restored at 4.54pm, the MEA said. Source: Sanook -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2018-07-22 1

Yes, the person deemed responsible lost face. Outside of Bangkok this happens on a regular basis - and this was only one hour. Never see it in mentioned the the national press though. 1

Popular Post gilo
To be stuck in an elevator without any ac or fan and in complete darkness for an hour would be horrific. They turn into ovens within minutes. I was stuck in one in Bangkok for less than 20 minutes and it is a horrible experience.
TallGuyJohninBKK
The lead of the article is the power was out for an hour at Siam Paragon. But the detail down in the article claims power was out for that entire time through the entire Pathumwan area, which means a whole lot more malls and other places than just Paragon. Meanwhile, as for Paragon, no mention of emergency lighting or backup generators???? Popular Post poohy
Power-cuts happen even to HISOs But the amazing thing it appears Siam Paragon the "premier la de da hiso swanky posing shopping paradise "does not have emergency generator to power lifts emergency lighting etc, even for Thailand i find it both surprising and disconcerting. 2 1

Phuket Stan
Siam Paragon did have an emergency power backup about 2 years ago when I was there one late Friday afternoon 2 years ago and it all worked fine....I cant imagine that they would have disposed of it...many people here have assumed it was Siam Paragon whereas there are many shopping malls in the area...The owners of Siam Paragon are very very good operators of malls so until the actual name of the mall is released it may be a good idea to keep your slagging to yourself 1
