How packed is airport link from Makkasan to Airport at 08:00

Featured Replies

thinking about using airport link to swampy but have seen at time extreme crowding and long waiting times.

Took it Saturday, 21st, at 8:35 am. No problem. Got a seat. If I travel, I usually go Sundays and take the train to the airport. Not very busy.

What's it like around midday on weekdays now?

A friend is thinking of taking it in a few weeks. I remember it as being fairly quiet outside of rush hour.

I took it from the airport with 30kg of baggage one Friday at 10am and it was rammed within the first stop.

I'd never do it again with luggage from the airport.

Trains to the airport looked empty by comparison....probably opposite is true from 4pm onwards.

About 3 months ago, I took it on a week day from Swampy with a big bag.  At the airport station no problem with travelers getting it but after the next stop it was packed full with locals.

At Makhasan it was quite difficult to get out as the train is packed like cattle but fortunately,  I had to plan my move from the previous station to get near the door.

By the way, my train was one of the Express City train car  that they removed the confortable seats  and luggage area to change it to the local metro type car. Outside the train  still had the Express color and marking. Sad way to improve airport rail link.

Going to the airport in the morning will be fine. The commuters will be coming into Bangkok not leaving.

About right. We usually use when heading to Trendy for about 11am and it is quite horrendous. Usually going back to the airport before 2pm and still reasonably ok.

You will be fine going to swampy opposite traffic at 8 am.  But after 11 am planning to wait a train.  And like others said by 3 Rd station from swampy in the am it's packed like sardines.

Last few times I was on the apl the train just showed up whenever. Had nothing to do with the clock/timing

Here I have no sympathies. If you are getting in the middle of our commute 4-8pm m-f with your stupid roll bag, you get what you deserve. Take a cab.

  • 2 weeks later...

If you think about it everyone is coming into the centre to work at that time of the morning so the outgoing trains are not so busy I've often taken the MRT to Kampaengphet station and theres never anyone queing so same should apply the Airport link.
