Bar Closures - This Weekend

Featured Replies

Any confirmation on bar closures this weekend?

Searching google suggests Friday 27th confirmed as closed.  Saturday 28th is unclear.

Also suggests the restrictions run midnight-midnight - any confirmation?

And Monday 30th is the Kings Birthday so I guess Pattaya will be gridlocked this weekend with Bangkok visitors!

Should be both Friday and Saturday nationwide.

Yep. It's unlikely that Pattaya will get exceptions compared to Bangkok.

No alcohol from Thursday at midnight until Saturday at Midnight

confirmed by gogo bar owner on soi Cowboy and BK magazine.

A well known Pattaya bar manager from another forum does not even wait for the "letter" but has already scheduled cleanup/renovation work for the two days. Regular staff has two days off.

Note this is a 2-day ban on alcohol SALES.

Stock up, stay home... sorted!

The roads are bound to be busy, as Friday is Asahna Bucha (the reason for the ban on alcohol sales on 27th) and Monday is the substitute day for the Kings birthday, which is actually on the 28th and just happens this year to coincide with Khao Phansa (the reason for the ban on alcohol sales on the 28th) So a 4 day weekend.

In answer to the OP, there is a ban on alcohol sales from Midnight on Thursday through to Midnight on Saturday, bars can freely open during this time (most won't) and sell soft drinks / food.

As NanLaew states, nothing stopping folks buying alcohol before Midnight on Thursday and consuming it at their home / hotel.

Thanks for info.

That's sorted then - night in on Friday and a midnight start on Saturday.

Problem solved.

I was under the impression that His Majesty was born on the 28th, not the 30th ?

Yep, slight mix up.

Birthday is Sat July 28.

Monday 30 is the substitute day (offices etc. closed).

Yes, for sure stock up!     I would hate to not have any alcoholic beverages on hand and no place to purchase any.     What could possibly be worse?

Seriously? Pattaya forum and you don’t know Sizzlers?

Irrespective of being off topic, that is astounding.

Sizzlers sounds like an American junk food chain. But I don't see how it is relevant to the alcohol ban. Please explain

There're two shops just around the corner who sell ice-cold beer.

A big Leo for 57 baht isn't that bad, innit? ?

It is not relevant to the alcohol ban.... I never said it was.... I said it was off topic.

I was expressing amazement that somebody posting in the Pattaya forum would not bed aware of Sizzler   - do you have a Pattaya connection ?

Sizzler is one of these chains that should have never made it to Thailand in the first place. Only looking at their menu card in Ubon makes me sick.

Australian low-end origination I believe.

As as been said frequently.... you can't fault their salad bar.

I wouldn't touch their meat with a barge pole though.
