Foot Fungus/Infection

Featured Replies

I've had the pictured discoloration on lower third of both feet for 2 weeks now. Originally had ringworm type infection around the perimeter. Pretty clear shoes are somehow involved as the discoloration conforms almost exactly to shoe height.  I suspect the shoes got wet and some fungus or bacteria infested the shoes.

Any suggestions?  I remember seeing cautions here before that some of the antiseptic creams are not appropriate for fungal infections.

That looks very bad,and maybe more than fungus, have you had a Doctor

see it,if not i would, looks like fungus on the big toe but the rest of your foot

is something else.

As Worgeordie says & definitely see a doc.

Tomorrow.

Sheryl will no doubt give her excellent - as always, advice.

And I just wanted to have my supper........? You should cut your toenails, and perhaps give it a bath. dude. Your foot is astonishing.

One more for Dermatologist.

After a chat with my wife. She said that mixing warm water with vinegar will help. It's clear from wet shoes. But don't use creams, let it heal from alone.

You had better see a dermatologist.

Is there a staff dermatologist at BCH?

Really impressed with BCH last time I went there.

almost looks like bleeding under  the skin, caused by improper footwear...just not mangy enough for athletes foot.  Show us your sho es, might be a good laugh.

I'm wondering how your  blood circulation is?

Good golly,  I'd  hightail  to the hospital first thing in the morning.

Skip breakfast.

Circulation is good, thanks.   I suspect some form of ringworm which I got on the top of my foot a number of years ago from floodwater after a night of torrential rain.

I will see a Dermatologist right away.

Thanks all for the observations and suggestions.

they can take a slide, scrape your foot, incubate, then confirm fungus or not..you may have a little, but looks more like a vascular situation..but could easily be horrible shoes and a long walk...nice Cankles.

Good luck Brother.

I sure  hope it's not as painful as it looks.

Yes, though I can't give you a specific name.

At St Louis, nearby, Dr. Parichart is good.

I'd second that re Dr. Parichart at St. Louis as an excellent dermatologist. Been to see her quite a few times about a variety of minor skin things over the years, and she's been on the ball every time, correct diagnosis, correct treatments, problems resolved/solved. Trained in the UK. Speaks good English. Easy to talk with. And she's got hours there most days of the week, so easy to find there.
