CityNews – Six people were arrested for drug trafficking in Om Koi District during a police raid with evidence valued over five million baht.

 

Police and the Narcotics Control Board officers, totalling an impressive 87 officers raided 17 areas in Om Koi today, August 8th, for drugs trafficking and illegal operations.

Besides the narco-economies (which is vast) you also have the huge business of law enforcement (budgets, seizure of assets). With so much money involved when some dealer at the managerial level is jailed, within hours they're replaced, so there's no real impact. The people truly in control don't want decriminalization and I believe certain governments don't want this cash cow to ever end. In 10 - 50 years when all this is over and world looks at addiction rationally, they'll recall this time period as an embarrassment.
